Happy Birthday HRH Queen Elizabeth II - 90 years old is a grand old age to be and you are looking absolutely marvelous in the wonderful photo you have had with your heirs to the throne commemorating this auspicious occasion.
I am so excited that there will be a commemorative stamp unveiled today, so I have asked one of my friends in the UK to please buy me one and post it to SA. Imagine one of these stamps in my collection.
The celebrations are not just for today, there will be many other's to follow and I hope our British writers will give us some insight as to the going's on with the royals.

Isn't she just the most wonderful role model? Still working tirelessly with an average of more than one engagement a day over the year. I could never cope with that for starters. I hope when the time comes she passes away quietly in her sleep - but not for ages.

she surpassed victoria last year as the longest reigning monarch in british history.
she has a long way to go to be the longest reigning monarch in the world.

I wonder what her life has been like? I suppose it is all she has ever known. I watched a documentary a few nights ago and apparently they were not impressed to have Phillip join the family lol!!

I think she has done her leading role quite remarkably and sometimes people are more critical than they should be. Prince Phillip is of Greek ancestry and I think they didn't want her to go that direction. He has a great royal line as well: Parents: Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark, Princess Alice of Battenberg

The first ever British Monarch to reach 90, she is a quite remarkable lady. She'll be out and about in Windsor this morning and then tonight she'll be lighting the first of a chain of beacons stretching across the whole country. (I still think we should have had a public holiday to mark this occasion) Morning Lany :)
