Yesterday was Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday. A great milestone for anyone. The royal family has always captured the imagination of the world. The headlines scream about their lives. If there is nothing to report, they will fabricate a story to sell newspapers or magazines. It must be difficult knowing that your every move is recorded, every misstep gleefully reported by media that can't seem to get enough. This amazing woman has lived under scrutiny for 90 years. She has done so with grace and dignity. Her family has been a source of strength as well as embarrassment, but as with most families they move on. The official portrait with her great grandchildren and a few of her grandchildren, shows a family that has endured.

@inlemay last time the grand lady came to Belfast all police resources were devoted to her security and rascals knew they'd get away with petty crime - I had my car stolen.

what leads you to tell me this unfortunate tale of events on Morley's post? Ha ha ha - that is a sad tale from your memory of her visit to Belfast.

I think that strong family ties and the ability to move on in times of strife are the main ingredients for a happy life. I find her majesty a bit scary but i admire her a great deal.

I have always been fascinated with British history. My dream came true when we visited palaces in the UK. They certainly have one long history! Pretty roses!

She has been a good Queen in a lot of ways but not so good in other ways like with Princess Diana. I am wondering who will be her successor hopfully not that no good son of hers.
