Well Seasoned

Someone once told me not to call myself old. Someone else said to call it well seasoned. I do like that phrase, so from now on I am well seasoned. It does sound better than old in my opinion.
The reason for this post is what I did to my well seasoned self last night as I was getting ready for bed. As I was getting undressed to get my jammies on I pulled a muscle in ......... my left thumb. Say what??? How is that even possible? The thumb pad of my left hand had a shooting pain run through it as I was taking off my t shirt. I am left handed and thought ut oh I could be in trouble here. How am I going to type and comment at myLot. This is not good. This morning my thumb hurts a bit when I try to use it in certain ways, but typing seems to be ok thankfully.
I have pulled muscles in my back taking off my shirt, an action I have done probably 10's of thousands of times. But never in my hand. I sat on my bed just shaking my head in disbelief. I guess it's just because I'm well seasoned.

Maybe or just some not using it thingy. I don't know it's not bad but it hurts a bit when I do certain motions all the way into my wrist.

Well it hurts in the muscle of the thumb pad so I just assumed that's what happened. Sore today.

@fishtiger58 I hope it improves. I have one knuckle that periodically gets sore. I think it is getting arthritic. Every time it starts to hurt I massage Dencorub into it.

Yes, I would agree to saying well seasoned, tiger! (I do remember telling you not to call yourself old! We aren't that far apart in age!)
Isn't is amazing and astonishing how easy it is to injure yourself in the weirdest places? I hope your thumb feels better quickly!

I rather call myself old (even though I am not old yet) because getting old comes with a lot of privileges.
When a young person forgets something, he can expect a good scolding from his teacher or his boss.
If his grandma forgets something, everyone will forgive her, and put it down to old age.
Sometimes I think that is just an excuse.
Grandma probably just too lazy to write down and too lazy to want to remember.

@fishtiger58 Not true. I keep on using that as an excuse for carelessness already.
My mum and her friends keep on saying they are old too.
When they go out and get on a crowded train, they will try to make eye contact, and hope some younger ones will give up the seats for them.
When nobody does that, they will talk loudly about young people not respecting old people!

I was hunting down a comment I gave to Judy a while back about essential oils and it was on this post of yours, here, that I made my comment. After reading over some of the responses and comments again I was going to ask if you ever went to any doctor about your thumb, but it looks like it must have gotten better a few days later?
If you ever do get it checked out, I'd be interested to hear what they have to say about it. If you write about it you can tag me so I'd find it and read it too. If I ever go to a specialist about it, I'll make sure I write about it too. Both my thumbs are bad but it's at the base of both thumbs mostly, not just the thumb pad. My whole had will hurt periodically too.
I was hoping that my time off would allow them to heal up, but they're probably too far gone already with the arthritis since they still keep bothering me out of the blue. I may have to have one of them replaced before my right knee. But it may depend on how long I'd be off work. I'm not sure I can afford to be off that often or at least before I begin collecting social security. After I get that, maybe I'd at least have enough to pay bills.
Btw, I posted a response back when you wrote this that you may have missed. I supplied a link to how the hand works and what's muscle and such. I need to look at it again for my own hand too.
See you around.

Yea it healed after a couple of days I seem to recall. But how weird is that. I don't have arthritis that I know of.

@fishtiger58 That doesn't sound good to me. I'd called the doctor if it feels that way after a few days.

@DianneN I sure will, I want to go fishing and being left handed it's the hand I throw out my line with. I can't do a darn thing with my right hand.

I think a pulled muscle, but now the longer I am up and using it, I find I am having pain in the top of my hand, into the thumb pad and on into my wrist.

I know that's got to be painful. I did the same thing, and I wasn't well-seasoned at the time. I was working in a factory doing repetitive work using my thumbs for the hardest part and strained the muscle in the left I believe. I had to wear a brace for quite a while to keep from injuring it again.

I think I got lucky. Today it's almost back to normal, hardly any pain when I use it. It ached all day yesterday and I was worried.

So very sorry I missed your comment. My only explanation is old age, I don't have problems with my hands nor do I have atrhritis, so I'm thinking it was just a pulled muscle.

Well at least it was your thumb and not your middle finger or we would have needed more of an explanation than merely taking off your shirt.
