Politics - I try not to go here often, but...

Just to state it right out how I feel, Trump is a bad choice (not that I am endorsing anyone in particular).
I've seen quite a few people stating they support him because "He's a businessman, not a politician and I am sick of politicians" or something along those lines.
Okay...I agree.
He's not a politician. He is a businessman.
But there is the problem.
You see, America is NOT a business.
Trump can run his businesses any way he likes. He can be an overbearing clod, a jerk, an ass of massive proportions to anyone he wants, because he is THE BOSS and what he says is the law.
He owns the businesses. He don't have to worry about offending any employees or rivals.
So he doesn't worry about it.
However, in politics, you HAVE to worry about that stuff.
You have to have a bit of class, you have to use detente when dealing with rivals.
'Running' America is not like running some corporate conglomerate.
But millions of people don't seem to get that part of it.
He's running for a political office.
Politics takes an entirely different set of skills than running a business.
Trump doesn't have them.
Okay, 'Big Money' has no influence on him, he doesn't need them for his campaign or anything.
But at the same time, do we want someone running the country that is liable to tell Kim Jong-un "Your Momma is so fat that" or things like that?
The American leader needs tact.
Trump doesn't have that.
So nope...I just can't endorse Trump, and I believe those that do are not using common sense to guide what they think.
There it is.

I'm not sure.
A country is a big business.
The US is a very big business.
With trump I'm not even sure he IS successful as his businesses are shrouded in secrecy.
For those that thought Obama's birth was secret try finding out about trumps business

Trump can't make a set of rules for his 'employees' to follow, and doesn't understand that WE, the public, are not his employees, but his employers. It's an entirely different structure than a business.

The only reason I would like Trump to win it's for the fun. The politics always been boring and full of lies. He was always unpredictable and full of surprises, he isn't afraid to say what he thinks, he's also quite stupid beacuse he doesen't know that political campaigns are built on lies. But I would trust him to spill out every state secret.

I think a lot of people are under the impression that he has big money and that he can use his business sense to bail us out on so many different things. They aren't looking at the bigger picture. We can't be run like a cut and dry business. There are anomalies that pop up and can't be fit into a "class" of things.
I hope like heck he doesn't win, but I fear that are too many stupid voters out there.

@BelleStarr if Bernie isn't running I am voting for Hillary. She is a 1000 times better than Trump. ( and the republicans lie a lot about her... like they lied about and tortured Obama..)

I think this Trump thing is a big hoot and I'm getting quite a kick out of it. One thing in his defense (as a business man) my best friend's husband worked for him for many years and he always said Trump was fair in his dealing with his employees. That's not saying he would be a good president, or dog catcher for that matter.

I have to admit that I thought the same things about Trump, he is a business maybe he can turn this country around, get us out of debt, and create jobs and get Americans working again. But he has proven he is a total nut job. I don't usually comment on political posts but I had to say my peace here. I am an election judge in Illinois and yet I still don't know how I am going to vote come Novermber

I agree that running a country and running a business are two completely different kettles of fish. Even considering a country as a 'not for profit' doesn't really cut the mustard because, although there are aspects of business management in government, it really involves a completely different mindset, though there are some transferable skills..
I still wonder whether Trump is playing his own game or whether he has been put into place as a candidate who is never actually intended to become President in order to damage the opposition. If that is the case, of course, it involves some very serious 'conspiracy theory' and one should wonder who is really running (or intending to run) the country.
I am very distrustful of any 'conspiracy theory' like this but this man's thinking seems to be almost a caricature of a really, really unsuitable person.

I would not rule out conspiracy theories because certain people like to play that game.Really all I ever heard discussed in my family about politics was that my maternal grandfather as well as many other Republican minded peoplein his area would register Democratic to vote in the primary for the weakest candidate, then when the election came along vote for the Republican candidate.

@owlwings did you see the video of Obama Roasting Trump years ago? I believe that is why he is running, just to prove he can get votes. I think he is a joke and I think it is a joke to him to see if he can win...

President Obama mocks Donald Trump over birth certificate conspiracy, Celebrity Apprentice & his presidential ambitions!

It's frightening, the number of people that I otherwise consider sane, that are posting that he is what America needs...I have a thought that they may not understand what they are truly asking for until they get it...which I hope doesn't happen.

I admit, I am a tad curious if a business man might do better at it, BUT I don't feel he is the right one for it. Listening to what he says, he just babbles in circles and never says anything, yet people seem to swallow it all right up. Proves to me that people in masses are just morons

Politics takes an entirely different set of skills than running a business. Trump doesn't have them....Your words and spot on! He is an embarrassment to the country. Those who love him must be idiots to think he is able to run a country. And if you are a woman and you vote for him, you must be out of your mind. (I know JJ that you are not a woman but can you even imagine a woman voting for him?)

@nanette64 A lot of people I knew when he was running felt the same was as many people feel about
Trump now. The two are very different, and I think Reagan had a better moral foundation. He did go to church -- in fact he went to a church I attended when I was in college, but he wasn't there yet. He, too, was Presbyterian, but not just socially. He believed. I've read about his faith.
I grew up Presbyterian and attended four Presbyterian churches over the course of my life. I have learned it's easy for businessmen and politicians to join mainstream churches for the same reason many people join Facebook -- to network. No one really knows what church members believe unless it shows in their lives. We do know that Trump is generous with his money when it comes to helping the military and the veterans. I haven't been following him until this election season started and I haven't looked up the other causes he donates to. I have to admit that since I pay little attention to the media and celebrities and don't watch reality shows, I had never heard of Donald Trump until a year ago. I've never seen any Reagan movies either, and did not know much about him until he entered politics and became my governor. I sure wish he was governor now!

@bagarad Your point of view is respected here at Mylot. If we didn't have open dialogue about things like this, then the country would wind up socialist. I guess I just miss the good ole' days of Ronald Reagan.

Take it from outside perspective. All I seem to hear is Trump Trump Trump. Trump this Trump that. Bad or good, it is all about him. Other candidates or Hilary are nowhere in and around the picture. So, guess whose chances are looking the best? Other countries' fate also lies on America's fate.

He can't even handle Megyn Kelly. How's he going to do against a real, potentially dangerous world leader. He won't be able to bully them. Not to mention, our leader can't be openly hateful, racist, misogynist, and homophobic, all of which has been spewing out of his mouth since he started his campaign.
Now watch me get blasted for stating that.

I don't like the fact that he never served in the military. I think it should be a requirement of a president.
I don't endorse him or anyone else either. They're all just talking heads and no matter who wins, we all loose and they will be working toward destroying our country.

The Presidential race is big news over here in the UK too. It looks like it's going to be between Trump and Clinton for the White House. Neither of them seem to be popular choices, but still they lead. How is that? Mind you, it's the same here. None of the leaders or parties are popular, yet we don't have a creditable alternative.
What are we to do?

I never ever respond to a political discussion.
But there are so many because your country will have an election in 6 months.
Running a country is part of the job, but interacting (not on myLot) with other world leaders is another big part of the job. I don't know how the other world leaders could handle Donald Trump, he's rather outspoken.
Some of the comments that the press has reported that he's made about sending this American or that one to Canada have really turned me off of both him and this entire election. I just feel that its been a really long process this time around.
