Rotting Fruit on the Second Day of Rain

The apple slices were turning brown. The skin of the bananas were black on both ends.
I sliced them up and put them in the blender with some ice cubes.
In a mug of water, I mixed powdered milk, mango-flavored condensed milk, red drops of strawberry flavor, then added this liquid into the sliced fruits and ice.
I press 'blend' for just a few seconds, then poured the fruit shake into two mugs.
Rotting fruit problem solved.
It rained quite heavily last night and I was surprised that it rained again today.
But you know what? It's still hot and humid even while it's raining and after the rain.
Maybe because here in the city there's so much concrete. Maybe the streets, houses, and buildings absorb the heat and it's released when they get wet with rain.
Maybe it's cooler in places where the rain hits the soil, plants, hills, and rivers even though it's summer.

the condensed milk brand is jersey and it's produced in cebu. flavors are chocolate, buko pandan and mango.

I find cities are always hotter than the country. I love you made a smoothie with your fruit. We do that too, often for breakfast for a healthy one.

aside from the concrete, there's also metal and glass. we're quite lucky this area isn't that crowded yet
what is the difference between smoothies and shakes? is it the milk?

@PainsOnSlate like milkshake. i think here, anything with blended with crushed ice, with or without milk or ice cream, is generically called a shake. hahaha! i think you can also substitute yogurt?

@hereandthere I think of a shake as having ice cream in it, A smoothie is something healthy using fruit, veggies, and milk for breakfast.

@hereandthere agree with you, might as well make use of the fruit rather than leave it rotting.

@hereandthere I think you are right. I did not think I would like banana cake, but it was lovely.

@hereandthere I think it is very light rain, not the kind of thunderstorm rain.
i like those thunderstorm rain, but it is bad for farmers because the young plants will die.

the rain doesn't seem to help, because it's still hot. but, of course, it's good for our plants and saves water.

great that you were able to salvage the fruit rather than just throwing it out

Usually cities are much warmer than the suburbs. I do not like too much rain especially in the tropics as it just makes it humid.

true. relatives from my parent's hometown find it really hot here in the capital. but when it rains during the rainy season, it really does feel cooler.

It's also raining heavily in our place this morning that our drainage overflow. Good thing I found out earlier if not then flooding happens all over our house. Huh. Our house is still under renovation that's why.

there are a lot of old mango trees here, too, around the neighborhood, but the fruits are too high to reach.

according to other mylotters, it rained in their area, too, but in others it didn't because it's not really the rainy season yet.

and we can control how much liquid there is. when you buy fruit shakes they tend to load it with ice, less fruit.

Yes, the weather here is cooler after the rain; I love the smell of grass, of dry leaves that were soaked by the rain; so soothing!

that's why we cooked malunggay in coconut milk the next day because the dusty leaves were washed by the rain.
if there were more soil here maybe it will be cooler when it rains.
