Monday-May,30,2016 ~ Memorial Day

Got rudely awakened by cigarette smoke coming in through my window at 6:30a. I have asked my daughter to please smoke out front so I can enjoy the window being open. When her boyfriend is over he is so unthoughttful. He even lights his cigarette before he even goes outside sometimes. I made a comment about second hand smoke to them and go some reply I didn't hear. I think smokes are rude and thoughtless people. Second hand smoke is a killer. Don't you think it is rude for my daughter's boyfriend to come over and buy them food and doesn't even offer me anything when he knows we have no food in the house? I hear utensils clicking and my grandson asking for more. It's a bit hurtful to me. I think I fell asleep about 10p. last night so I got about 8 and a half hours sleep. Not bad for my weird sleep cycle. Hope this continues until my doctor's appointment June 8th. Had a half a can of peas for dinner. Feel like I am on a diet. Will enjoy a cheeseburger and chocolate shake on Wednesday. Then we will get some fruit at the fruit stand for a fruit pig out. There was a awesome tribute to the vets at the vets part about two blocks away. A huge black stone with all the Idaho Veteran's that were lost in the Vietnam war. I hope all of my Mylot friends have had a nice day with their families today. And that you all gave thanks to all the vets who lost their lives in keeping us safe and free.

We got a little bit of stuff done around home, but not enough to please me. I went to church yesterday and we drove through some various cemeteries here. we did not actually go to any Memorial Day observations, though.

I wouldn't put up with anyone lighting up in my home. We both quit in 2001 so the smell of it is horrible. Yes, I gave thanks, and it was a nice day - hot but that's good for swimming. The boyfriend sounds like a loser.

He is but he does her bidden and they get along that way. The smell of it is horrible. It must be worse if you are an ex smoker.

Sounds like a winner. I also think your daughter and grandson should have spoke up too and asked to share the food with you. Put a sign on the inside of the front door to remind him not to light up while he is inside the house. That would totally piss me off knowing he lit up inside. We didn't go to our local parade. Too large a crowd for us. We did however go for a nice ride together.

The smoking is disrespectful - to do it around family and friends whom they know will be annoyed is just not cool (and not healthy!). And I agree it's rude for them to not offer you food like that - again, disrespectful.

Your post disturbs me. It just plain hurts. Is there no way, none at all, that the boy friend can't be talked to? What is wrong with your daughter? I know she is your kid and I hated writing that but that is how I feel. Why does she not stick up for you and bring you a plate of food??? I just hurt as I read this. You poor dear.

Because she was mad at me. And they are their own priority. I don't know how to react.

@celticeagle Its not right to be stepped on like you are a door mat. I do not know how old you are but what you described is abuse. If you were elderly I would say elder abuse. For sure not respect or human decency.

Great post. I did have a good time with my cousin and brother before my cousin left for NYC. She should be home soon.

I love your tribute. I wholeheartedly agree. Do you depend on your daughter's boyfriend for anything? Because even though it might anger your daughter, it would be so great if you could just ban her boyfriend. You don't deserve that disrespect. And you're so not wrong for wanting her to smoke away from the window. But I'm sure all those thoughts have occurred to you already.

No, not dependent on him for anything. Can't ban him. He'd just sneak in or my daughter would be irate. I wish I had someone to talk to. More transpiring now. I just don't know.

omg, yes I understand completely. times when my kids have been so thoughtless also. I have never ever eaten take out with them not included. always shared even when they were kids I hated people eating with someone else doing without in the house. not good at all. guess you spoiled yours also or else that is just how nearly all younger people are these days. its like it is the ME generation that we are not able to join being the thoughtful people we are. yes I thanked all the vets in my prayers. want to come be my roomy?

I spend most of my money on them. Where's the me. Of course she does buy me things. The younger generation is amaxing. The develop way too early and then they don't know what to do with themselves. I would love to come be your roomy. Give me some peace. We could play old records and bring the house down.

Hi, @celticeagle! He's more than rude. How about your daughter? She can give some food to you knowing his boyfriend is like that. Remind me of my very nice bother-in-law. My eldest sister, his wife, passed away few years ago but until now, he still gives my parents some food. We told him to stop because he doesn't live in my parents's home anymore but he never stops. He loves what he's doing.

It was his good. Guess he can do what he wants with it. I won't buy him food when he is here so maybe this is why he didn't offer me any. What a nice fellow your brother in law sounds like.

he sounds like a rude and thoughtless person, it's not like your money doesnt help them out. Honestly, the second your grandson turns 18, I'd be tempted to move out closer to that granddaughter you were mentioning.

He knows I have his number. People don't like it when you have their number. My thoughts exactly. Five more years and he wil be eighteen and no excuse for me to be here anymore.

I spent the day alone but it was okay. It rained here so all the bbqs in the area were canceled. Everyone just stayed in or went to the movies, I guess. The neighborhood around here was very quiet.

Sometmes that is nice. Sad that it may have ruined some folk's plan. Nice to spend time with family regardless.
