Buttons and Thundertorms

Our oldest kitty, Buttons, is the purest definition of scared cat. Any loud noise, and change of furniture or bed spreads makes her frightened. Yesterday a thunderstorm rolled through and she climbed up on my lap buried her self under the covers and held my hand until it passed. I was so happy she knows to come to one of us when she is afraid of something. It helps her to calm down quicker. It makes all those times when she was a kitten and I'd lay on the floor while she hid behind the couch talking with her and holding her paw worth it. I will say she isn't as bad as she use to be thanks to Ginger, who for the most part has no fear of anything. Sometimes a loud noise might make her jump but it has to be close and loud for her to have a reaction. I think Buttons watches her and is getting better, but yesterday was a bit loud for her. Picture is mine from yesterday's thunderstorm.

My old man cat is petrified of thunderstorms. I actually bought a Thundershirt for him.

We actually thought of getting one for her, but then we rescued Ginger and she has been a big help as she isn't as afraid and some of what use to scare Buttons doesn't as much anymore.

See. Now I am just the opposite. If I knew my cats were afraid of thunder I'd put it on a loop and play it all day long and watch 'em go nuts.

She is lovely, poor kitty, most of them fear the thunderstorm. She is lucky to have Ginger taking care of her.

@Dena91 All cats have great personalities, but they are all lovely.

Yes, it took a little time for them to get use to each other but, she really came out of her shell when we rescued Ginger. It's fun to watch them together because they have such different personalities, yet are so jealous of one another at times. Have a blessed day

That's one thing I haven't experienced with our two cats. They don't seem to be afraid of anything. lol Although, if I have Grayson in my arms and open the chest freezer door he does freak out. I'm like, "Dude, I am NOT putting you in the freezer." lol

Poor baby. Taj spent a week in a tree, including one night with a violent thunderstorm. He was afraid of storms for a while after that. Now he's fine.

Some animals are naturally nervous - horses are the same.

My dog doesnt' get afraid, but any random noise she starts to bark because she thinks it's an uninvited guest-um, sometimes she barks at the moon, or random shadows too:/.

Awe, poor Buttons. Good things thunder storms come less often now.
