Do you prefer more? Or better?

I'm kind of a weirdo, and I tend to see analogies or metaphors in everything. My balcony sunflowers seem to be compensating for the relatively small pot they're in my throwing lots of small sunflowers, instead of a few big ones.
This got me to thinking about how I don't have that many material possessions, but the ones I have are really good. My mandolin is a Gibson. My guitars are by Collings and Larrivee. My stereo gear is made by Fisher, Marantz, and other good manufacturers.
The sunflowers are kind of doing the opposite of what I tend to do. But I'll still take care of them to the best of my ability. Do you tend to go for more? Or better? Or both? Also, does gardening make you wax philosophical, like it does me?

@Horse you're talking to the person who goes out and urges here pumpkin, cucumber and tomato plants to grow. I highly encourage them and hope they will respond in kind and grow well. I like your sunflower plant I think it is doing quite well. My houseplants enjoy having music on most of the time you can try it with your sunflower.

I agree. I have a friend who collects guitars. He has a lot of guitars that aren't that good. He doesn't know what to do with them. I have only three (except for a couple of cheapies that are at friends' houses). Each of my main three has a specific purpose.

I guess it depends on both... certain things, you definitely want quality over quantity. and there's a difference, for sure! i have one beautiful pair of boots that were expensive, but I hope to have them forever. also have some cheaper ones that I know what last forever.

Uhm... pony? The ones on myLot who tend to gravitate to your discussions learned long ago that you are very weird (Sorry about changing your description slightly, but I contend that the word "very" does need to be inserted there for veracity. Thank you!) and we are willing to put up with weird... (for the various values of the word "weird") as long as we can determine some OTHER value in your posts. (Yes, the science is what I prefer, but humor can also keep me coming back! Notice, I didn't say you thought/realized you were being funny!)
Uhhh... would you care for a scientific explanation for what your sunflowers are actually doing, or should I ignore the pseudo-scientific explanation and assume that everyone else, like me, simply read your posts for the entertainment value and don't worry as heavily about the real science behind your posts?
Oh, my, pony! My emoji box seems to be completely out of the "silly" emoji! I didn't realize we could actually use them all up! (I will agree that there are so many places in this response that really needs to have the silly emoji inserted so you get the greatest impact from my statements, but what am I going to do when I am completely out of one emoji? Stop writing?
I don't think so! I will just tell you to ignore anything in my response you don't like! (I am pretty sure you like everything I write, so I should still be good, right?)
BTW, during all this introspection, did you happen to once think that you have some pretty good immaterial "possessions", too? (I'm talking about the quality of your friends here on myLot! We are a pretty good group to have, you know? LOL!)
And, to answer your question, nope! I garden because I love my plants and judging by how well they grow for me, I would hazard a guess that the plants love me right back!

It does not, but I tend to kill growing things, even bamboo

I love your sun flower. I don't garden very much, but when I do it makes me feel peaceful. Any time that I spend outdoors makes me feel at peace, especially walking by the ocean.

For us, it depends on the 'stuff'. We always buy good, reliable power tools for instance. Although I think Vin grew up rather poorer than we were, I'm the one who is inclined to be a cheapskate with some items. Luckily I usually let Vin talk me out of cheap and nasty.

I would rather have better I think. Not too philosophical with my garden, just thankful.

I think it's both for me. I always value the quality and most of the time it's costly. Then I tend to buy more of the same brand.
