Off to the worm store....

United States

On the way to the lake is a small convenience store/gas station. You can buy gas (dah!) and a few groceries. They mostly sell beer and fishing stuff. That's where we buy worms. It's been too hot to sit out near the water and sweat so fishing hasn't been on the to-do list. Yesterday it was a tad cooler plus a few clouds and a nice breeze - in other words, a good day to fish. Unfortunately we only had 3 worms left. So after catching and releasing three fish I was out of business! Our first stop today will be at the worm store and then into town for a few things before it gets busy. I plan on not doing much the next two days, and fishing to me is doing nothing!!! What's on your agenda? Photo belong to me.

I am relieved to see that this post is about fishing. My first thought was that you were making vermicelli for dinner.

LOL! That's funny! My husband would eat it - he eats anything!

My sisters husband bought an old brick clay pit that had been turned into a fishing lake and it looked exactly like your picture. He had to sell it eventually as the access was really bad and he couldn't get planning to widen the track and put in a small parking area for fishing people. My agenda for the weekend is do nothing and hope for a call from the part time shop job I've got to say they need me to work. Seems really slow on here lately...maybe it's because of the summer or because people just got paid here

It surely is slow - I stayed away for a few days, but I see it seems less and less here now. I think the nice weather and holiday weekend are causing it. Our pond has lost a lot of water, it's not as big as when that photo was taken. W/o rain the creeks that feed it are only trickling in a few drops of water. This pond was dug by the previous owner, it's not a natural one.

@Mike197602 We lost a lot of water months ago - there must be some kind of leak somewhere - then it leveled off and all was fine, now with the lack of rain it's down anther two feet.

@AbbyGreenhill I forgot about the holidays in the US and (I think) Canada. The pond my sisters husband had was an old clay pit, a couple of hundred years old. It is right next to the river Severn so floods regularly and is pretty much always full as being clay lined the water doesn't leak out much. I have never been into fishing but it was nice to go there for a BBQ in the summer.

I dig my own worms when i had time to go fishin, otherwise i buy small reject shrimps to use as bait, the smellier the better

Our dirt is like cement not easy to dig in - not sure worms are in that dirt either.

My son in law has a lizard that eats worms so I wasn't too surprised when I read your title but never thought of fishing.

My comment disappeared. I love fishing and when we lived in Kansas we fished often. Not so much anymore getting ready for camping.

Funny that one has to buy worms.l think i`ll not be happy to release any fish, used to fish with my brother when l was a little girl, was so proud of any fish l caught there was no releasing even the smallest back in the waters.Ofcourse we were fishing in unregulated waters and l was only 10 or less years old.

I certainly won't eat a fish that is 6 inches long LOL! We bought the fish so we'll keep recycling them

My Saturday was a working day. But it's evening here now and tomorrow I'm going to enjoy cycling the whole day. Going to a resort on our road bikes.

@AbbyGreenhill We didn't because we were running out of time. We just took pictures and then went down the hill again.

My son (who is a slob), misplaced his cell phone and had to be at work soon, so after he left, I cleaned the house looking for it and could not find it. I went on Facebook and noticed he had been online, during one of his breaks, so it looks like he found his cell phone. I am beat now, cleaning the whole house, moving the couch and looking under it and vacuuming under it, I am just relaxing now.

@AbbyGreenhill Yes, I will have a good talk with him. I am still thinking his cell phone is misplaced. I really have searched the whole house.

Is he going to get a good 'talking to' when he gets home LOL! You should rest and make him cook dinner.

Do you fish from the side, or from a boat? I've not done any of that sort of fishing, it sounds a lovely way to pass the time.

We have a small dock. The water is do low can't use the boat plus posts are too much work

I've never been able to get keen about fishing. I'd need to take a book I think.
