Travel insurance: I sold the idea to my son in law.

My son in law is a doctor. He is not coming with us for our vacation, but my youngest granddaughter, his daughter, is coming.
Tonight I spoke to him by the phone so that he could write some Rps. for meds for normal ailments that are not OTC meds.
I told him that I needed them just in case although I hoped noone would be ill. And I told him that I specially needed them because I was travelling with a travel insurance and Claudia and her children weren´t.
But, he said, surely Claudia MUST get an insurance! I told him that I had talked to her but that she hadn´t listened. So, I wanted an antibiotic, a painkiller (for Claudia and for me) and what should I take for a tummy ache.
He said that he was going to talk to Claudia IMMEDIATLY about the insurance. If they get a divorce over this, it is not my fault. I think that we have to be able to get a doctor quick while we are on vacations.
What´s your idea about this?

I never travel internationally without insurance anymore. Granted I hardly ever travel now but I don't think it's wise to do without.

I agree. Once, in Spain, someone stole a small suitcase with ALL our meds. There was a doctor very soon to give us the Rp with the name the meds had in Spain.

@koopharper This insurance is not expensive and many times it will not we used. But it is worth it taking it.

@marguicha Never know what can happen when you're traveling.

It is worth it if you travel out of your country. I have my health insurance in my country but it doesn´t cover anything elsewhere.
Check it if you travel. It is cheap.

@marguicha I doubt I'll be traveling out of the country again, since finances are so bad. But if something wonderful happens and I am able to go, I'm sure I would buy the insurance this time around.

Travel insurance is a good idea. You wouldn't want to ruin your vacation because you came unprepared.

I do too. At least from a certain age on. When I was young I didn´t care

I told her exactly that. I don´t think she even heard what I told her. So yesterday I told my son in law and HE listened.

I don´t mind if I lose a suitcase as I don´t travel with any expensive things. But I do want to have a doctor on hand if I get ill.

The only time I used it was when a small suitcase with my pills was stolen. I got new meds in a short while.
