If you recognized the greeting then I am very impressed with you. Guten Morgen is the German phrase for "good Morning" My postbox overflowith bringing greetings and Good morning all the way from Thelma and the country of Germany. Ironically on the eve of the Europe Cup Soccer game Germany played against Italy, a game that went into extra time and had to finally be decided with sudden death penalty shots . . . .Germany eventually winning. It was sad to see two of the top players in a quarter final, but what a game! Did you see it? Thanks Thelma, lovely postcard, wonderful flower stamp which I shall reveal later and most of all the hand to hand greeting. Baie Dankie @thelme55

I don't know any German but recognised the title for what it was. Thelma must be on holiday to the Philippines now, mustn't she?

@Inlemay - Now, would I tease a nice girl like you? (Answer: "More than likely, yes." Gluten Morgen - An Averse Verse "Gluten Morgen, Gluten Morgen," Every morning in my toast... Stuff of chemists and of flour, gives me asthma by the hour. How to tame it or to blame it, everybody does their best to put that gluten stuff to rest. I've found the simple way to do it, get that gluten gone, each last bit. I 'll spell it out, don't fear. I'll get the "L" right out of here. It's now a greeting, No asthma and no beating. "Guten Morgen." And I hope the rest of the day is going to be as much fun and as good as ever you might want it to be. As to the rhyme - only kidding you.

@Inlemay - well, I certainly knew that you knew how to spell "guten" (one "L" or two???) and I am pleased that you enjoyed being teased. I would hate to be forced into adding up the number of times my keyboard fingers have led me astray - but it is a large number. Take care. Have fun. "Gluten Abend."

Of course I recognise the greeting Fraulein. Despite being so close and visiting surrounding countries such as Poland, I have never been to Germany.

@MALUSE I think that there is another typo "gluten morgen". The title is correct, but gluten does not mean good in my opinion.

I'm sure Inge is very happy as Germany are doing so well in the football. Why are they so annoyingly good at getting through tournaments?

I did not watch the match, I do not like football (soccer) and yesterday evening, a few minutes before the start, there was a serious Internet problem in all southern Switzerland. We all have TV over Internet here. I am sure that most people were very unhappy. We got a DVD and watched a movie.

@Inlemay Yes, absolutely, both my husband and I do not like football and anyway we had no way to watch it. Internet was repaired during the night, nobody was able to see the match in the region, as I said our TV is over Internet here.

You are very welcome. I am glad you like it. Wow! At last Germany won against the Italian football players. I have not seen the game as I have just arrived traveling to my home country Philippines. I can imagine how loud the German streets were because of the winning celebration.
