Yep. I don't care what everyone else's calendar says...this week Tuesday is a Monday, at least for most of us in the U of the S to the A.
And that's a good thing for me...I don't get 'paid' days off, so my check will be a little smaller than usual (not that it's ever that big), but trying to work yesterday would have really been a pain in the butt (and everywhere else). It might have been 'Independence Day', but it was just a day of recovery for me after the concert Sunday...those things take quite a toll on these ol' bones these days.
*takes a sip of coughee*
But hey, at least it isn't a terrible Monday (for a Tuesday).
It's going to be warm, but not extremely hot, and the chance of rain is only 10%. Glucose reading is 104, which is a good number to start the day with. July 4th weekend doesn't see much rental of sumo suits, so I have plenty of stock on hand at work for shipments going out today, which means I can work at a relatively sluggish pace if I want.
Today's Morning Coughee Musicâ„¢ is from Iron Maiden, and their 'Piece of Mind' album. (I got to be a little careful with this stuff, if I start banging my head too hard, it might snap off and go flying across the room) \m/
\m/
Anyway, I need to wander off to the kitchen and fix some breakfast...but I'll be back shortly.
See y'all soon...

Even if you HAD worked? You wouldn't have been able to ship anything out since the mail didn't run.
My Monday has been a Saturday for me for quite some time. However my Tuesday has now turned into a Monday.

I couldn't have shipped anything, but that has nothing to do with the mail not running.
We ship via UPS, and they work lots of days that the mail people get off.

I love Iron Maiden. Those were the days I say. I grew up with some awesome music. I haven't been to a concert in a long time. My son actually wants to go see KISS when they come. But I told him, it's not the original band. I said if Ace and Peter were there I would go with no problem. But things change.

@JolietJake Right. That is why I don't want to go take him. And besides I have tons of concerts from KISS on video, so I can show him those on my big screen TV with my Bose lifestyle sound system. It will be the next best thing to being there. And he can snack at his leisure.

@inertia4 I saw Kiss on the 'Lick It Up' tour after Ace left and they took off their makeup...and then saw them in '96 (I think it was) on the Reunion tour...the first time was good, but the second time was KISS.

Yep. Kinda like Axl Rose singing in AC/DC. Sure, maybe it's good...but it isn't AC/DC to me.

I always love a little torture in the morning, and what better way to start out a torture session than in the Iron Maiden.

Three-day weekends screw us up for three weeks. First, the week before the weekend we're making plans, anticipating the holiday, whatever. Then the week of the holiday we think Tuesday is Monday (and it is, as you point out, even if we call it "Tuesday") and the week is short (not to mention we're probably exhausted from the three-day weekend). Then next week we'll be back to a five-day week with a "short" weekend (just the regular two days) and we'll be going, "what the heck happened??"

@JolietJake -- ow, sorry to hear that. I was on my feet for 11 hours Saturday (I was walking, though, not standing in one place), so I can sympathize with the pain.

I wish I had taken a lawn chair to the concert Sunday, but I have been used to renting them for $5 when I see Sammy outdoor...at Forest Lawn, they didn't have any for rent, and there had been close to 2 inches of rain Saturday and Sunday before the show, so sitting on the ground was out...about halfway through the show my legs started bothering me so bad I really couldn't enjoy it anymore, but I had brought three people with me and it was their first time at a Sammy show so I didn't wanna make them leave and ruin it for them

We are on staycation. My hubby commented that we are working way too hard for being on vacation. Hoping that we will be moved in by next weekend. That is something to look forward to.

@JolietJake I hope that you made money on this venture.
The one thing we as Americans often fail to realize that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.
It is time we have fun while we can. Even if it is a day or two.

The only 'vacation' I have had in 9 years was four days I didn't have to go to work in July 2013...instead, I had to drive a van full of sound gear to Connecticut and back.
And I mean a FULL van...you can see the front and back of it, there wasn't room for anything else.

Funny even though we had a real Monday yesterday in Canada. I'm expected the day to behave like a Monday. Yesterday we still had a lot of travelers come through the restaurant. That was odd because the long weekend was already over for us. Most of them weren't American's either. They were Quebeckers. The accent and the conversations in French don't lie.

I think my brain went on vacation without me yesterday. I got to the kitchen and realized I hadn't put any bread out to thaw overnight after using the last of the previous loaf for supper.
That microwave sure comes in handy to thaw a few slices real quick.

@JolietJake Why not scrambled eggs on
toast? May be some fruit juice with coffee (both without sugar).

Good morning, I worked yesterday, we had red, white and blue day and were allowed to wear any shirt with those colours in it instead of our uniform shirts-which we all dislike. I think that I was THE only worker wearing red, white and blue, today is t-shirt Tuesday, so we are allowed to wear just a t-shirt today. Our uniform shirts are black, and you get so tired of seeing that and wearing that.
Happy Tuesday!

Black is a bit warm in the summer too, most of my favorite shirts are black, but I go with white or lighter colors when it's warm and I'll be outside a bunch

@JolietJake The party was okay. My husband was in a cranky mood and a lot of people didn't show up. a lot of money and work for half as many people as I expected. frustrating.

It's unusual for me to get a 'holiday' off from work...my holidays revolve around the days that UPS gives their drivers the day off, and they work most 'holidays'.

The worst part of the week ahead is today, I have to deal with reporting an accident Friday to my insurance company. I had never had one in all the years I have driven, so I am not sure what hoops I'll have to jump through and bells I'll have to ring with them.
