I'd rather be considered rude than fake...

Yes, I was referred to as 'rude' today. Of course, the person didn't straight come out and mention my name, because they are a bit two-faced, but that's fine with me. The only thing is, some people seem to mistake 'rude' and 'blunt'. Rude is calling you a worthless (expletive deleted) that should (deleted) (expletive) while someone else (deleted expletive). But I am not rude. Even if I tell someone to kiss my ass, I am not being rude. I am saying what I think. I am being blunt. I don't play at being two-faced and talk about people behind their back, I will talk about you to your face. Rudeness is unnecessary. I tell it like it is...just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's rude. It's real is what it is. It isn't any fake front put on to try to make myself look good in the eyes of other people. Make no mistake...I am extremely blunt...and I can be an ass, if required...but I am not rude. I don't need to be.

It doesn't take much to cross the line from blunt to rude...to be totally honest I think you have crossed the line a few times but that's just a subjective view as we all see "rude" as something different. There's someone here I see often described as blunt that I find very rude.

@JolietJake or maybe they just have different views on what constitutes blunt or rude as there is a thin line between them and certainly some overlap depending on how you see things. I think I've been blunt a few times on here but generally believe I skip rude and go direct to totally offensive. Lately I've been biting my tongue somewhat with a couple of people but on the whole I've never ever seen the site as friendly as it is now...and not even friendly in a false way.

@Mike197602 Which would you call this....rude or blunt? "You've been here 9 years and only have 4,052 activities. If you aren't active, you can't earn. I have made almost 12,000 activities since January. If you aren't going to put out the effort, please don't complain about your earnings."

Oh, there's no doubt I can be rude if someone starts pushing my buttons...or even just lightly pressing them...and I'll go off on them. Fast. But some people just don't get the difference between 'rude' and 'blunt'.

I've roundly cussed someone out on the phone before without being rude. It was wholly deserved and if it wasn't expected, it should have been.

If I think someone is a freakin' idjit, I'll call them a freakin' idjit...what I won't do is go behind their back and call them a freakin' idjit to someone else. I always let people know where they stand with me.

@JolietJake Generally I'm polite and diplomatic. What can I say? I'm Canadian. Talking about me behind my back like that though would definitely push my buttons.

Now this one has me with my nose in a dictionary. Hmmmm, blunt vs rude One of the definitions of 'blunt' is 'not sharp' which I would say does NOT apply to you. Yes, you may hit hard, but you are hardly 'dull' **muses: in crime dramas, people die from 'blunt force trauma'** blunt= meaning straightforward, frank, plain-spoken, candid ? check - I concur. Rude? perhaps - if rude means lacking in tact - I think you would agree it is tough to be blunt without skimping a little on tact - you KNOW you embrace the 'loveable curmudgeon' persona, So, I think we can excuse this person as not really having had a chance to get to know you. Actually, I don't think you LACK tact, you just prefer to use it sparingly (so as keep a keen edge on that characteristic bluntness) I digress, however, and to return to the analysis fake? NEVER! absolutely not. (of course, there may be dentures? I never detected any rugs in any of your incarnations) But looking on the bright side of all this, who ever it was, gave you something to talk about today, and I predict you will eventually win them over.

I'm rude, I'm a fake, and I"m everything negative. Oh, not to forget that I'm a liar and a pretentious biatch! Now if someone says something like that about me, I wouldn't be surprise anymore.

We have this politically correct, over-sensitive world. Once upon a time I got chewed out for politely telling someone I was having a very difficult time reading their post due to their misspelling, bad punctuation, and eternal typos (and yes, I did say it nicer than that). That was way, way back in Prodigy bulletin board days. I learned from that mistake. Now, if I see a topic on a board or a discussion here with bad grammar or punctuation in the subject line or the preview I simply skip it. I had a woman react very negatively to my trying to tell her she had toilet paper stuck to her high heels, so I let her walk out of the bathroom, dressed to the nines except for the TP she was dragging. (And no, that's not Tom Petty. ) There's a difference in the motive, too. If you want to actually help someone by saying. "You have bad breath," you're not being rude. It's blunt and they might take it that way, but wouldn't most people rather be told an unpleasant truth and have it benefit them than have it ignored? Sad to say, some people would rather see their house burn down than to accept you telling them "your house is on fire," thinking you're being rude by saying it.

I don't sugar-coat stuff, and I have a habit of cutting through the crap right to the heart of a situation. I don't have time for all the bull---. Why that is considered 'bad' by so many, I really don't understand.

What one calls blunt other's call rude. It's each person's opinion. I like to think I'm honest, but that could be taken as rude or blunt to some folks. But I don't care, I pay the bills so I make the rules lol.

I agree with you. Why comfort someone with a lie? I don't want people telling me good things in my face and then when I turn around I hear them saying nasty stuff. I hate that and that's why I'm not like that because I want the same respect I give to people. I can also be blunt at times but most of the time I try to positively position everything. As long as possible.

The line between blunt and rude is really very fine, so it could sometimes be deemed as both since no one likes a straight ticked-off. Yet, we have such hardened hard cores in our midst that simply need such straightening. As for me, I tend to walk away than to waste my energy arguing with them in due process. To me, let them be idiots for all I care and I will just preoccupy and enjoy myself with something more worthwhile.

You can be a straight up c-u-next-tuesday when you want to be, but so can most people, they just don't all come straight out with it - as you say, it's better to be blunt than fake
