Huge Storm Trees Down

We had a terrible storm last night. It was supposed to hit at 8 pm but we got pounded at about 6:30 pm. Moments after it started we lost our power. After the storm quieted down I noticed the road leading into town had stopped traffic. This is a main road that the truckers use to get to a major highway from Indiana into Illinois. My husband and I walked down to the end of our road and saw a massive tree blocking the road, all traffic was at a standstill. Soon a big bulldozer came down our street and moved the tree off the road and traffic was once again on the move.
We got in our car and drove around town and saw at least 6 huge trees down, A couple of the trees hit houses but the damage didn't look to bad, at least not to us. Many will have a massive clean up this morning. We lost our power for about 10 hours. I'm sure those trees brought down the power lines in many locations in my town.
This picture is of the storm as it moved out of our area heading towards Indiana.

@DianneN Nope it's not, hubby is ticked lol. Going to have my nephew take a look at it see if he can fix it.

We bought one too, used it once and now it's not working. What a rip off, hubby needs to take it in and get it fixed.

oh my, that didn't look friendly't all. so glad that y'all seem to've made't through such unscathed, hon. yepperz, those trees'll take those power lines out rather quickly. hopefully the weather'll be come't least o'er the next several days so the massive clean-up can begin.

@crazyhorseladycx And weather across the globe has been very strange indeed. Snow where they don't normally get it, the insect life is different here than it was 20 years ago. Rising ocean levels, what's next.

We have a huge black walnut tree in our yard, if that came down it would have wrecked our house. So glad it stood. Thanks glad you like my shot.

We aren't having storms. Although monsoon has moved in. It's raining right now too. In other parts of my country there is heavy flooding going on.

I haven't looked at my rain gage yet not sure how much rain we got, but again this morning it looks like rain.

@fishtiger58 Oh I have see storms like that before. Horrible. I remember Hurricane Sandy a few years back. That was not a good one. And here in NYC, we got hit hard from that one.

Oh wow what a beautiful sky in that picture! Sorry your power was out for awhile, but atleast they got traffic back to moving. DId the power being out hamper dinner?

Actually we were eating when the storm hit and power went out. So we finished by candlelight. I finally went to bed at 11 and woke this morning to power yeaaaaa. Looks like we could get more rain today.

@fishtiger58 Atleast you had already set down to dinner. Rain okay but hopefully no more harsh winds or hail or anything of the sort to bring down more lines and trees!

Wow that sky looks ominious! glad no serious damage was done to your house with any falling trees but having no power in this heat was probably horrible

the rain really cooled down the temps but so humid it was awful. Yesterday and today only in the 70's I love that.

That was a bad one. No power for 10 hours had to be rough, Great shot of clearing skies which must a vision of relief.

It was really bad, haven't had the power out that long for some time. I was very happy to see the sky clearing. This morning looks like we could get more rain.

Wow,that`s some serious storm.Im sure people were happy the bulldozer came when it did to clear the road.
I`d feel desperate if we did not have power,im terrified of darkness, i cant even go camping because l dont want to be in darkness

I hate the power out, we lit candles and had flashlights, but there is nothing to do and I do worry about my frozen food thawing. Everything seems ok this morning but it looks like we could get more rain.

Everyone is getting storms but us, but we don't want the strong winds that knock trees over. Is is all quiet there now?

Thanks yes we got lucky we had one very small branch come down but the rest of our trees stood. We have a massive black walnut tree in our yard, it that ever comes down we will be in big trouble.

It was a bad storm. I grew up in Missouri. I live in California now, but all my Missouri friends posted pictures on Facebook today, showing all the storm damage!
