I can get used to the idea that the image of the grandma sitting in her rocking chair or baking cookies is a thing of the past. That's not a problem for me. I mean I am a grandmother and I am not like the grandmother of old armed with a broom, sweet sayings, and baking apple pies. I am active like a million other senior citizens. What I have a hard time with is the idea of the grandma that is out there ordering hits. The grandma who has a list of people she wants eliminated from the face of the earth. I saw a show today about grandmas that are ordering hits. Yes, it seems to be happening more often than you think. Or at least more often than I think. Apparently there was a grandma who decided that her hubby had become a fuddy duddy and she no longer wanted him around. And then, there was a problem with her son who disapproved of her new lifestyle once her hubby was gone. The next thing you know she wanted a man who disrespected her to be banished from the earth. Fortunately she was caught before the third person bit the dust. I know the world is changing but really...

Though your illustration is not typical of today's grandma, neither is the hit-ordering one! (I hope!)

hi jabo hope there are not many of hit ordering grannies. I am the right age but my only adult child seems determined not to marry so I'm no grandmother at all sad but he seems happy so be it.

If you think about it that image might have been correct in a time when women had many children and the kid who drew it was the 9th child of a 10th child @jabouk @hazysue @hatley didn't women back in the 15th and 16th centuries age quicker because of having so many children or were very poor or any number of other troubling problems?

@jaboUK neither one is. The picture is the grandma of old. The hit ordering one is one of the new breed. I would hope it's not the norm. I think the norm is the grandma swinging a tennis racket.

How odd! I'm sure we all have people we wish would disappear, I know I do, but to actually try to be the one to make it happen? I'm sure not the grandma that my grandma was....but neither was my mother. Ah how I miss my grandma.

@HazySue I used to blame the tv for kids getting their ideas but it is more than the tv.

@velvet53 true, all they have to do is watch the evening news or the people around them.

Good and bad people are all over the place and age has nothing to do with it.

Well, each of us has a different memory of our grandmas, some never got to know theirs others had active ones @HazySue I don't know who came up with the idea that all grandmas were old, feeble, loving and witless but many women who had children when they were teens would have been young grandmas if their kids were also teens when they had kids.

@rebelann no age has nothing to do with it. When I grew up grandmas were baking, and giving kisses not out playing sports and running around.

Although most grannies I know (including myself) aren't sitting home knitting I don't know any who are putting hits out on people.

@41CombedaleRoad to tell the truth, I was surprised at how many senior citizens have been reported to order hits. I don't know if they were a bad apple all along or if they just became so hardened as they got older that life just doesn't mean as much any more.
