Protest signs that tickle the funny-bone

I'm not sure how I came to be reading this but I found a YouTube clip of funny signs seen at protests. Among them were: 'The people behind me can't see', 'I'm so angry I made a sign' and 'I'm so angry I could vote'. Another said loud and clear 'Down with zippers'. But the one I like best was 'I was told there'd be cake'. Have you ever been to protests and seen a witty sign? I don't think I've ever been to a protest. To me, they seem good places to avoid. The photo is one we 'doctored' of a friend.

I have never been to a protest either. Maybe I should protest about something just to see what the attraction is? I shall cause a revolution! I AM REVOLTING!

The attraction obviously isn't cake. But you could join all the other revolting people. You'd have plenty of friends!

I've thought of starting a protest. Marching down the street with my fellow red-heads, demanding that we be recognized as real people and not clowns or soul-less vampires. We'd carry signs like: "Gingers are people, too!" "Proud to be a Redhead!" "Don't make me mad or I'll Ginger-snap!" But I'm afraid that if too many of us redheads get together, the glare of our white skin will cause cornea damage to everyone around us. So that idea got scratched...

Haha. Very good. Have you heard the Tim Minchin song about redheads - something about 'only a ginger can call another ginger ginger'. Just looked it up. The song is called Prejudice.

@JudyEv Yeah. I had never caught the anagram in the word Ginger before hearing that song!

@Genipher Oh, my! I've never heard that song and certainly never imagined "ginger" was or could be an anagram! (I am terrible at anagrams!)

Same as you, I have never been to a protest, they can be dangerous places.

@JudyEv I agree, I remember in 1968 when there were students protests almost every week in Italy. My parents did not even let me go to school if they were close to the streets I had to walk to reach my school.

I think they are dangerous too. People have no respect for each other or for the police so things can quickly get out of hand.

@LadyDuck Protests sometimes seem just an excuse for rude, loutish behaviour.

Does your friend know you NIP-TUCKED her? ha ha ha Signs can be hilarious and if I get a chance, I stop to take photos of them.

@JudyEv that is very cute of you to do - I can imagine her laughing at every month - growing younger by the day, because laughter keeps us young

@Inlemay I've done a post about it but only put one photo. I can also put another photo in a comment. We had fun doing it too.

I was a bit surprised to see funny placards at a protest. I thought they'd all be very serious.

I've never been to any type of protest. I prefer to be safe rather than risk being sorry for attending one! Too many people at protests simply don't care how they "get the word out" about the protest! If someone gets hurt or arrested, so much the better! Not for me, thank you!

Good idea - not to attend. There are enough idiots out there without smart people like you and me adding to the mix!

@moffittjc What a wonderful idea for a protest - but what on earth would you call it? You couldn't really call it a protest. Maybe a protest against protests! You could call it a peace march but I don't know that they really work either. Maybe we should just infiltrate other protests and smile a lot.

I would be in such a good frame of mind from all the funny signs I'd forget what I was protesting about and just be wanting to spread goodwill to all men - and women!

I had enough of protests in the sixties. They get out of hand far too often for anyone in my age group to attend them.

@JudyEv Crowds are okay, unless they are full of zealots or hyper fans. Then, best to avoid them.

@JudyEv There's a sign I've been trying to remember how it reads from a Mexican restaurant. It says: Kids Eat Free Sundaes - I found that one a bit humorous because it doesn't give anything else about when they eat those free sundaes, just that they do.

I was laughing at "The people behind me can't see", I can imagine it being a huge placard that the people behind it literally can't see what's in front of them. I've never been to a protest. I avoided crowded places and I don't think it's safe to join one.
