This morning I accompanied my hubby to his surgeon. He was such a nice doctor and very pleasant to speak with. After explaining the surgery for my husband's spinal stenosis on a model, we decided to do the surgery ASAP. It will be done at the end of August. We're waiting for a specific date from the hospital.
Afterwards, we looked for flooring tiles for our new family room, but didn't find any we loved. So the search will continue, and then must meet with our decorator's approval.
We stopped for a lovely lunch with wine, then returned home to play with Doodles.
It's been a bittersweet day.
What have you been up to this first day of our new month?

It has to be for his best to have the surgery done as soon as possible. That will put his pain to an end and allow him to fully recover before getting ready to go to Florida in the fall, and all along he will be able to keep a watchful eye on the progress in the family room.
I had a fairly quite day, I worked this morning, and enjoyed a quick late lunch with our son while he was back picking up Ellie.

@DianneN No, you'll be fine, its like riding a bicycle, except for the grocery shopping part, that is never the highlight of my week either.
I didn't know that there was no pain, but the numbness would be frightening. You'll make a good driver for him, driving Mr Daisy is what you'll be known as-LOL

The funny thing is that he has no pain. He is miserable because he won't be able to drive for 6 to 8 weeks and must wear a neck brace all that time. We hope to do our running around this month for the family room. I dread grocery shopping and cooking, which he has been doing. I think I forgot how!

Was in the office to take care of some things in the morning. Had to say goodbye to a new friend who's leaving for Europe today. It was sad seeing her go and we got only a little time to spend together, was hoping for more but she had to go.

@DianneN Yeah, just met her in April. Then invited her to join our company. She is a very kind woman.

I can understand how your day was bittersweet. It's probably best that his surgery is scheduled sooner rather than later but anytime surgery is necessary it's stressful. I"m sure all your decorating will help pass the time and keep you mind occupied

I hope your husband's surgery goes well. It is hard to recuperate, the older we get. I'll be praying for you both!

I think I'd rather search for tiles. My first day of the month was waiting for Housing to arrive in the allotted time in the morning and then AT&T to arrive in their allotted time. Not having anything to do in an almost empty apartment, I read until I got the computer and Internet hooked up so I could get on the computer and get in touch with everyone again.

@DianneN Not done yet like I wish it were. With my energy levels sinking low this past week and my son flying out to Boston this Saturday, we're holding off on the furniture move until he gets back the week of the 20th. Then I'll be completely moved in and can get completely unpacked and settled in and can take a breath and fully relax.

Yesterday (1st of August), I just spent my entire day working here in the office. Nothing exciting for my first day of the month.

I hope everything goes well with the surgery when he has it. What kind of tiles are you looking for? Light or dark? Pergo is a reddish color and it's beautiful but I don't know what your taste is.

We celebrated the National Swiss Day yesterday. We had a nice dinner in the garden while we watched the fireworks. I am glad that your husband decided for the surgery as soon as possible. The two times that my husband had surgery were around the end of July.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I've been beside myself and overwhelmed. We are still waiting to hear from the hospital and the surgeon is on vacation.
National Swiss Day sounds like fun! It's nice that you could see the fireworks while having dinner!
