I Had My Chemical Stress Test Today

Today has been a long day. I went this morning to get my chemical stress test. It is one of the hurdles I have to jump over to be able to get my thyroid surgery next week.
It takes about two to two and a half hours to complete as long as nothing goes wrong. Well, I am not one of the luckier ones who finish in that time period. However it only took me three hours. Yeah!
The chemical they give you during this stress test effected me just a little too much. It is supposed to leave your body in 4 minutes. It liked being there so much it tried to move in for a bit.
It made me so light headed I couldn't stay seated they had to lay me down. My heart felt as though it would pound through my chest. I slurred my words so badly they couldn't understand me.
Well, they gave me an antidote so it would hurry away. After a few minutes I felt a whole lot better. They had me sit and gave me a cup of coffee while they kept an eye on me.
I'm here to tell you that this test really isn't bad. I am just one of those weird people who has a hard time with test of these kind. I am alive, feeling pretty good, and happy to be home again.
So, how has your day been?

@LadyDuck if you have any feeling at all that there is something wrong you do need to have it checked out. I have been feeling something wrong for quite a while. If I had had it checked out back in the beginning I wouldn't be in the position I am in now.

i reckon that means no blockage 'n all 'tis a go fer next week? i wonder if'n ya aint got some gene mutations that cause yer body not to dispel those sorta meds? i do, me'n anesthesia don't get 'long very well... be sure'n get the name 'f that schtuff so's ya can 've 't put'n yer list 'f 'hey, don't gimme that!' with yer docs 'n hospital. also wise to put such info (long with meds ya take, docs ya use 'n other allergies) 'nto yer wallet 'n glove box.
glad they got'cha straightened out with the antidote. i imagine that 'twas a horrifyin', thankfully short-lived, time.

@crazyhorseladycx there is a small blockage, nothing to worry about right now. I have only two more test to go before they clear me for surgery. I have a list of meds and so forth in my purse and car.

Well did that test at least help you on the way to having your surgery or did it put a clamp onto the process? Was it to help them determine what type of anesthesia to give you during the surgery? Otherwise, what was the purpose of that if you know? I've never heard of a chemical stress test before this.

@MarshaMusselman it didn't stop my progress towards my goal of getting my surgery out of the way. Thank Goodness. It was to see if I had a blockage and could be put under anesthesia. They found out that a small part of my heart is not getting enough blood. I have two more test before they will release me for surgery.

@Marilynda1225 They give them to people that have heart problems that they feel will not make it through a treadmill stress test.

@ModernDayWriter they put in an IV and dye, then chemicals to make your heart beat as though you have been walking the treadmill.
