What is your favorite style of discussion?

Everyone has a different writing 'style'. Some do one liners. Some do massive blocks of text. Some assemble bits and pieces of things they find and make it 'theirs'. Others take a bit of time, and try to creatively craft one that is interesting, and take an old topic and try to approach it from a different point of view, and hope that the Grim Deleter doesn't go on a senseless tear and start deleting their stuff. Others make them only questions. Some, only facts. Others make creative stories. There are so many ways to write a discussion. I like to liberally sprinkle mine with a bit of sarcasm, then gently bake until they are nice and fluffy. How say you?

I've no set genre, I just write what interests me and just hope a few people will find it interesting too. I like humour, but don't do the sarcasm thing very well - I find it's misinterpreted more often than not. You manage it pretty well though. I don't like one-liners, posts consisting of just a question, news stories, and of course political or religious posts.

The worst thing about Snarkasmâ„¢ is when I have to gently take a reader by the hand and explain it to them...it seems to go right over their heads at times

@JolietJake When you have to explain something it loses it's punch, doesn't it?

Mine too...personally I like funny ones but I am also afraid I will be taken too lightly. I sometimes want to be seen as a very dignified wise woman. lol

I don't know if I have a writing "style". I just kinda rattle on about things that happen in or around my life. Most often I put in a generous amount of details . . . I want to make sure the reader understands me thoroughly. This of course means my posts tend to be long. My "discussion" usually ends with a question - that's just the way I've always rolled it on myLot.

Nothing wrong with a bit of fluff. Heavy navel-contemplation can be a bit wearing, though...

@JolietJake Where I live, there are quite a few Orange navels. And it's nothing to do with the full-length romper suit of the same colour, either...

Most of the time it's what hits me at the moment @JolietJake . Poetry, politics, weather, humor, life, etc. If you don't see a post for a couple of days, it's because there's nothin' goin' on upstairs.

I don't know what I do. I hope I try to create something a bit interesting. I hang back on the sarcasm but don't mind a good dollop of humour if I have any on hand.

I normally just start writing, then the Snarkasmâ„¢ slowly creeps in as if by magical means.

Right now my favorite discussions are ones I can read. I think I write a variety, often with several bits of information. Sometimes it is just "in the moment" There are certain people, like you, that seem to be interesting yet concise.

@JolietJake Yes, I have seen discussions which it would make more sense to delete. In my opinion anyway.

@JolietJake @egdcltd. Less randomly and nor likely less explicable than you might think... The Post Fairy has a busy job around here, methinks.

Yes, and I am not quite sure why, but I am sure the person responsible thinks they had a good reason, even though I disagree

@JolietJake I try to start discussions that I think will not bore others. I myself would not respond to a discussion if I think it's boring. And that includes long, nonsensical and confusing discussions.

@JolietJake Sounds like you're talking about me... That's how I feel sometimes when I read my own discussion... And the more I read and re-read it, the more lost I get, so I just let it be...

I hate when I start reading a discussion and seem to get lost...the creator either never seems to get to a point or meanders all over the place and I don't know what they are trying to say

For the most part my discussions are just thoughts that spill out. Nothing of any real importance or interest really-fluff I guess a lot of people would refer to it as. Every once in a while I'll get fired up over something that I read and I'll post a discussion on it. I steer away from rants, both writing them as well as reading them-they aren't my thing because I figure that we've all got something to B!tch about so why go there? And I don't like the news-break discussions, where someone has read something on line and put it into their own words and it lands here. I find that strange, given the fact that they likely read it online as any of us could, since we all obviously have the internet.

@Juliaacv Oops! I wrote one about my husband's cancer scare and it did get a little graphic. I didn't want to go there but people kept asking so I edited it and told everyone what was going on. Sorry if it grossed you out!

@JolietJake Oh and I forgot to mention. I totally HATE the discussions where people feel it necessary to talk about bodily functions or sickness related to them-usually their kid's. Saying one has the flu covers enough information for me, no further information is required or appreciated. But some go on and on, and the word vomit makes me want to, so I hate to read that word.

@LovingMyBabies No, what I dislike and turns my stomach is when people go into details on the flu, or cleaning up after their dogs, those aren't topics that do anything for me. Your husband's health scare is something that many of us go thru and the details are needed to understand. Its when a member puts up a discussion about their child's illness and all they discuss is the outcome-that isn't something I want to read. I usually just move on.

I like to write facts and make it easy to read, and most of my posts are things that matter to me.l dont like one liners, they dont tell me much but 1 block of 100+ words without any white space is a no-no,it make things very hard to read

Most of mine are personal-I think their kind of boring but apparently my friends here don't agree since they always have something to say! It's awesome. Good thing my OWN opinion doesn't matter here. Lol. I love your discussions. I love most personal discussions. I'm not crazy about one liner discussions.

I tend to avoid one-liners, most of them basically ask a question and don't say anything about what the person that created them feels about the subject.
