I have been looking into the trash to treasure crafting area lately. I really wanted to try something that is new to me. I am amazed at the different ways to craft with leftover items, most of which you throw away. It is amazing what some of these crafts turn out to look like. Yesterday I posted a craft using empty toilet paper rolls called "I Found A New Craft". It is astounding what you can do with a little bit of nothing. The picture I used today is from an article I found online called "30 Absolutely Genius Trash-to-Treasure Crafts". You should go visit it. The items in the picture are made out of empty soda cans. Aren't they something? It's another craft I would like to try. I find it absolutely amazing what you can do with things that you would normally throw away.

I will not play with the soda cans, it's too easy to cut your fingers.

I always save things from around the house and take them into work. The woman who oversees our city after-school programs is always designing arts and crafts projects for the kids using recycled materials, so she is always asking us to bring in our garbage! lol

@HazySue The soda can craft might be a good project for the older kids in the program, like the 16 and 17 year olds, as long as they wear thick gloves and handle the cans delicately when cutting and shaping them.

@moffittjc I think maybe the soda can craft might be a little much for the kids. Maybe the toilet paper roll craft could be used for them.

I have a book that I got in for review that I'm not seeing now, but it's a large book that gives a lot of history on trash and recycling and has lots of cool projects in it. I wish I could remember the exact title! I've only made one thing out of it and that is napkin rings made from empty potato chip bags. I am saving toilet paper rolls right now. I seen a neat project where you stack and glue them inside of a boot box and make a Hot Wheels Garage.

I love doing crafts with toilet paper rolls. They make cute place setting and all manner of things. Mostly kid oriented. It is amazing what things people throw out to begin with and what can be used to make some lovely things.

@shubhu3 one of the things I like most about this type of crafting is the fact that you have less going into the landfills.

It may be clever to make those chairs out of soda cans, but I wouldn't want to sit on them - those ridges would be uncomfortable.

@jaboUK neither would I. The chairs that were in the photo were not what I had in mind. As soon as I saqw thatm I hit edit but ended being blocked then knocked off of the internet; I now have the correct picture on the screen.

I think it's neat what people can come up with. I watched a video yesterday where a woman takes wedding flowers and makes them into chemises.
