Do you reuse padded envelopes and other stuff around the house?

When I get new guitar strings, or a new CD from Amazon, or new tags (sometimes called "badges") or capacitors for the vintage loudspeakers I work on, they often come in small padded envelopes. I save those envelops on a special shelf near my kitchen.
Eventually they get used to send coasters, CDs, and other small stuff to friends and family. Reusing the envelops saves me a few cents, and it also saves the time and energy that would have been expended going to the Post Office or UPS/FedEx store.
Are there certain things around the house that you save and reuse later? My grocery bags become garbage bags. My wine corks become part of the "sensory table" at my friend's preschool (so do acorns I pick up while hiking). Empty Gatorade bottles become watering cans for our various gardens. I could probably think of a few more examples.

I throw very little out but sometimes need to throw away stuff that I have kept for years. I can't find anyone who wants corks any more. I save small jars (cleaned) and can usually find someone who wants them for jam (jelly). I save egg carons for those with hens. And I save any little padded envelopes and bits of bubble wrap. If Vin sells coins he is always looking for envelopes and padding.

Heck, yes, I reuse decent envelopes. Cheaper than buying new ones. I did use to reuse grocery bags as garbage bags, until there was a compulsory charge for them. Took quite a bit of searching to find an actual garbage bag that was cheaper than the supermarket ones.

@TheHorse Trader Joe's (here anyway) doesn't charge for bags but they give you a nickel discount if you bring your own.

@TheHorse That works since you don't need to ship anymore. I sell some clothes, shoes so I save the boxes. But since I ship with Priority they have free boxes from USPS I can use. If I ship with FedEx I need to use my own boxes and those Amazon ones or shopping ones I order online comes in handy. Then if they come in the padded envelopes I'd cut it up and wrap the items to protect it. Reusing saves the environment :)

@TheHorse sometimes I stuff them full of random other junk mail and send them back with their envelopes with postage on it too

I keep my envelopes from bills, bank statements and letters and when there's a good number of them, I give them to my sister who has a little store where she uses them for items she sells. Of course, I make sure that I don't include envelopes that has my name on it. I even keep plastic packs of my coffee and creamer and give them to her too.

I recycle and use everything that I can. If there is any use for it I don't throw it out.

@TheHorse .. It requires thinking ability to reuse those things...to that extent, I would say hoarding is fine if it brings out such talent. My father hoards..just anything under the sun...you name it, we have it...master bedroom is covered with such things and so is guest...only my room is sane...as yet..

@TheHorse I am not a hoarder either. I just put things to good use rather then put them in the trash. If others can use them then I will give it to them too.

I reuse the plastic bags from the store as trash bags. When I was still shipping books to people I often used the old bubble bags as packing materials. I still do when I take breakable items to thrift shops. I reuse the dark glass bottles some supplements come in for storing seeds when my plants reseed. I know I reuse other things, but I can't think of them right now.

yes sir, i save those that i can. some're super taped'n 't takes an act 'f congress to get 'em open though - renderin' 'em purty much useless.
i recycle 'round these parts, all but glass. no place'll take glass, so i've several cupboards full. they do come'n handy though fer lefto'ers 'n the eldest sons odd projects he likes to do.
i use homemade shoppin' bags, so've no plastic bags to contend with 'nless the hubs 'fergets'. then they're used either fer garbage 'r sent back to the store to be recycled. i've used some 'f those bottles (young'uns...they're always bringin' those plastic bottles/cups)'n the garden, also to water plants'n pots. i jest cut the bottoms off, take off the caps'n push 'em down 'nto the soil 'fore fillin' 'em 'p. i'm purty certain such's the only way the potted plants survived july here this year (triple digit heat'n not a drop 'f moisture accompanied by high winds).
the feed bags 'come my garbage bags, though we don't generate much trash that goes to the landfill. 'bout a bag a month? i used to tie 'n braid bailin' twine together to use 's tie-downs when i'd go'n fetch hay outta the fields. the hubs'll not get hay outta the field 'n now we've quite the collection. sadly nobody 'round here'll recycle 't, but't does come'n handy fer temporary fence fixes 'n makeshift halters from time to time.

Me too. I always reuse those envelopes if they are reusable - sometimes if they're too marked up I'll use them for extra padding in other shipments. I use one and two liter plastic bottles as fly traps. I use food tubs instead of Tupperware. My grocery bags are also used for garbage bags. Gatorade bottles become semi disposable water bottles.
I used to save and reuse more stuff - but I am trying to declutter.
By the way, have you ever made toilet paper tube hand puppets? Might be fun for the preschoolers. You put a face on the toilet paper tube and you can glue other things on them too like eyes, hair, etc. Then you slip the tube over your hand with your thumb and pinky sticking out and it makes a puppet.
