Check Engine Light

When my son arrived at the apartment earlier than expected and had rung my phone for 25 minutes before I woke from a sound sleep, I found out my check engine light is on again. So I will be taking the car back to the shop this morning after the pool, where I'm headed right now. Not exactly my plans for today, but I need that fixed and they told me to bring it back if it came back on, so that's what I'm doing. I don't know what time I will be back here, but I promise I will return at some point today. In the mean time you all have a great day and I hope your plans haven't suddenly changed. @HazySue When I took it in, they checked the wiring in the electrical system and found the problem.

@just4him that's great news. My husband told me sometimes the check engine light may come on because of a short in the electrical system of the car.

glad they were so honest with you. Some garages would charge you and tell you the signal connection was interrupted by the main bus line that feeds the power connectors. $100.00

@LadyDuck No it shouldn't, but that's what they found. I'm just glad it's fixed and I don't need to worry about it anymore.

Free is pretty cheap which is what they charged me. Disconnected wires. All fixed.

Sometimes I think horses would be so much better, then someone reminds me of the cost to feed them. Would it really be so much different than buying gas for your car?

Yes, the check engine light can mean a lot of different things , many of them not too serious. I hope that is the case for you.

It wasn't serious, though they found disconnected wires. Fixed the problem at no charge.

That was the first thing they replaced along with doing a fuel system tuneup. They found some wires disconnected when I took it back to them this last time and didn't charge me anything for it. So now it's fixed and I don't need to worry about it.

You sound as exhausted as I am. My husband has to wake me up from sleeping if he wants to get up and go downstairs. I have to make sure he doesn't fall down the staircase. Yawn! I hope your engine light gets fixed once and for all!

It did. They found some disconnected wires, spliced them and voila, no more check engine light and they didn't charge me.
