What a day I had and it was the 13th

I took this on the 13th of September while traveling down Anthony's Gap.

Ma wooda been upset, she was so very stuperstitious and never drove on the 13th so I'd tease her and tell her it was my lucky number. I had a great day yesterday, due to so much construction going on I took the long way round to get where I wanted to go and it paid off, I got some photos of our desert round here so I could show you. Of course most of the photos I'll be posting about this was taken of parts of Southern NM. Ummm, I don't like cities so there aren't buildings in them unless they're in the distance. This is of the mountains just northwest of Chaparral NM, I was on a road I've always referred to as Anthony's Gap. So what do you think of this desert of ours?

That is beautiful. I have never been to the desert. I would love to see it in for real some day.

It looks different depending on the amount of rain we've gotten, this has been an unusual rainy August which is why it looks so green.

I usually don't get inspired to take photos when it's a normal dry desert @Happy2BeMe but boy when it rains this desert turns green over night which is inspirational

I love this beautiful open space. I am a bit superstitious about the 13. Every time something wrong happens on this day and yesterday was not an exception.

Once I was told by a co worker that if you believe something will happen it usually will.

That is very true @LadyDuck I get the feeling my co worker was probably superstitious

@rebelann May be, but usually what happens is never something I can personally control.

@enlightenedpsych2 ... You have to live through the noise we have to know what it is like at this end.

I'd love to have a forest closer by and even a lake but at least there is a lake about 200 miles from here.

It doesn't look much like a desert to me - too green.

This is the result of rain and humidity which we have had a lot of ..... you're right though, it looks so lush even to me.

It's mostly those desert bush that'll go green just because it's humid. I think there might be some wild grasses mixed in but I'm pretty sure this is part of a cattle ranch although I didn't see any cattle.

Yes, it certainly is different to see pictures of emerald green meadows and forests, those are two things that would be interesting to see for real.

You certainly have the best of both worlds with wide, open spaces and mountains to boot.

I'm sure glad you think so but I have to admit I wouldn't mind if there were a forest and lake closer for me to visit.
