Have you big-time splurged on anything recently?

I know I've done a few posts about splurging on clothes, only to reveal that I spent $36 on a couple of pairs of jeans, or $45 on a new flannel shirt (well, maybe I didn't post about that one). But last night I really went for it. I play in two bands right now, and our various amplifiers have been crapping out, sometimes right in the middle of gigs. I decided to buy one for myself. It's made by Fishman, which is known for making acoustic guitar pick-ups, and I love its sound with acoustic instruments. I've been visiting Guitar Center for several weks, sometimes bringing my own Collings guitar, to see how it sounds. The retail on these things is very $1,000, and they sell for $799 on sites like Musician's Friend. I actually did little "bargaining" and got out the door for under $700. I don't buy a lot of "things," but when I do buy stuff, it's generally of high quality, after a lot of research. I was going to get the 120 watt version of this amplifier, but Guitar Center was out of them last night, so I decided to get the 180 watt version for about $100 more. Have you "splurged" on yourself lately? I'm unpacking this thing as I write, and will report on its sound in my house later.

@TheHorse .. These are kinda serious ...old pipes to be removed and new pipes to be inserted...would also need professionals to look into it...and have a second sewerage line ..we had flooding...and kinda of there was some kickback...so we need to attend..dad is also not keeping all that good...he has been coughing consistently...he recovers for a brief period, and again gets another round..princess is screaming she wants to come to my place..it is 10.36 pm..she is getting scoldings..Pony I would be shifting to old age home if anything happens to dad...so I need to disconnect with these kids for their sake as well as mine.

I do a lot of repairs, needless to say. Today I have a few papers to grade and enter. Then I'll play with this amplifier.

No, I haven't spent any money on anything for me in a long time. I went to the dentist and the transportation there and the exam ended up costing me $116 of my spending money for this month. I need to go see a specialist about my arm but have no money to get there. May splurge a little next month cause it is my birthday.

@TheHorse .. That sure is expensive! In India it would cost you just about $50-100. Many would do it for $10 or even less. Do you have dental expenses insurance coverage?

I just had a tired wisdom tooth removed. Cost me $500 out of pocket. But the work I've been doing at the preschool has bailed me out.

I'm torn between replacing this shabby furniture my husband took off someone's hands, and upgrading my cell phone. I had the idea to buy a VR set for the family for Christmas because I see they are not very expensive, however I found that you may have to have a certain phone as one I saw in the sales flyer said you need a 4.7" screen, which I don't.

@TheHorse Naw... that is just one type of VR glasses that require that screen. Some can be hooked up to the PC or even the Playstation. Besides, I'm pissed off at hubby for all his golfing days lately and my birthday is coming up, so updating my phone is probably going to happen this week.

@patgalca How does updating a phone make things better? I can make phone calls on my land line with little problem.

No, but I need a new range. I have such bad cats, its getting hard to keep a range working. However, for a free range - did take $300 to get it hooked up - this has given us 4 years of service. However, 2 of the burners don't work anymore because of the darn cats. They've already killed 2 other ranges that cost a great deal more since 2000, so you can understand why I'm not happy. I'm going to try and find something to protect the new one when I get it.

I don't buy much in the way of Christmas presents. I'm I'm invited to soirees, I make sure to bring something for any kids that might be there. It can be difficult, because you never know for sure which Thomas the Train locomotives or Calico Critters families they already have. And kids don't drink single malt Scotch.

I used to buy a lot of things of Musician's Friend. That's where I bought my violin actually. I am right now planning on a "splurge". There's this chair that I really want at Kohl's but it's $40!!!! I really want it though so I've been saving up for it.

That's awesome you were able to negotiate on this :) And they come in handy for your gigs! Enjoy your new toy Recently we splurged on a new iMac to use at my boyfriends place and his hand me down goes to my house so my parents can use it along with me (if I'm ever home which is hardly just to sleep) Only way We justified the spending was in September they had a deal if you had a college ID you can get $100 or $200 off plus a pair of beats wireless headphones (300 value) Though the computers are darn expensive to begin with it was better than no discount :)

I don't splurge much. My "splurges" are usually once-a-week Royal Milk Tea at a coffee shop on the way to church. I justify it by the fact that I travel one hour to church, and need a break halfway there (the shop is in the train station where I transfer.)
