What is Your Favorite Kind of Pie?

Yep, nope, I am not going to ask a poll type question and then expect a hundred answers and get the discussion removed. I like almost any kind of pie, but I like free pie the best. I had some free yesterday, and will again tomorrow. Different restaurants offer this as an incentive to increase business on otherwise slow days.
It occurs to me that there may be countries where they do not eat pie? Maybe where other desserts are preferred. I love hearing about your good food.
So, I do not really care if you tell me about your favorite pie, unless you just want to. I guess I am looking for things to make me hungry, or new ideas of things to bake.

Have you ever put a few cranberries in your apple pie? I just picked up a magazine that has a pumpkin and apple butter pie.

@GardenGerty Pumpkin and apple butter pie? That sounds intriguing. Which magazine was that in?

Village Inn on Wednesdays with purchase. Perkins on Mondays with purchase. Maybe you can go to one of those sometime.

I am so tempted to say @smilepie
. If you find that recipe, share it when you make it. I guess I could go search for it online. I love toll house pie.

@Hate2Iron guess what!! I searched with swagbucks and they are doing "pie" collectors bills. Not only did I find "Colonial Innkeeper's Pie" I also got a 9 point swag collectors bill for pumpkin pie.

@GardenGerty Now how lucky were you today lol... You really have to try the Innkeepers pie. The filling separates into layers and it is awesome. I think that I will just have to make it now that its on my mind ;)

Yes, dessert type pies. I am not overly fond of cake, but pastries are wonderful.

O'Charley's gives free pie on Wednesdays and I had it once, it was awful. I'd much rather make a pie at home than eat horrible free pie.

I am not familiar with O"Charley's . I do agree, there are places I do not even bother with any of their desserts, the crusts taste like lard and they are never warm.

I will have to scroll to see who gives free pie! I love pie. Love, love, love it! My favorite is Boysenberry pie, with chocolate cream next and coconut cream next and banana cream (my recipe only) and then there is yummy turtle pie, apple pie and on and on. I don't care for peach pie or chess pie that much. Just about any other kind is a winner.

I have never had chess pie. In our area Perkins has free pie if you order an entree on Mondays The same is true of Village Inn on Wednesdays. I like pie but seldom make it.

@GardenGerty yes Perkins offers free pie on Monday in Florida but I don't know if there is one close by here in Ohio. Chess pie is like pecan pie without the pecans! I'm having company tomorrow I think I will bake a pie !

You and I would get along well. I ate mincemeat pie once when I was sick, as a child and I have not cared for it since.

Pie is not really a thing in Germany. Cakes, torts, but no pie.
I like cherry, lemon meringue, strawberry and blackberry the best, but there are few pies that I don't like. I think apple is a wee bit too bland.
Not too long ago our mayor got a pie in the face. He went after the guy and punched him. big controversy on the local newspaper website.

If I am going to have apple pie it needs to be my home made recipe. It has lots of spices, lemon and black tea in the pie and it starts with raw apples. I think a pie in the face is a waste of good pie.

I like the marionberry pie we have been getting. With some whipped cream on top. I like pumpkin for Thanksgiving. Chocolate Mouse Pie for any occasion. Creamed pies are delicious.

I am not familiar with marionberry, guess I have something to look up online. I like many kinds of pie so I would join you any time for any of these, with hot coffee on the side.

On another forum I'm on we recently had a discussion about pie preferences. I was surprised to learn that some places around the world prefer savory pies to our dessert pies. It makes sense, though. I like both kinds equally, although there's a chicken pot pie recipe I have that's probably my favorite right now.
I'll be making a few pumpkin pies with my stockpile of canned pumpkin from last year. That's pretty much the only pie tradition our family has so far.

Oh, pumpkin is good in so many things along with pie. I like to make a pumpkin "dump cake". I am even seeing here that many places have savory pies more. I think there are things we have that compare, such as pasties, bierocks, runza, and empanadas, as well as chicken pot pie.

I like both sweet and savoury pies, Our restaurants do not do that in the uk... they sometimes do special prices for senior citizens... but they do not do free pie..

Savoury pies are not that popular here. I have bought some frozen. If a restaurant sells one it is often chicken pot pie.

I like pies of all kinds. I am not familiar with Saskatoon berry, so i will look it up. I remember thinking beef pot pies were a real treat when I was a kid. I have not made many from scratch, though.

I know you are quite a cook, do you make your own? I can vouch for Perkins making an excellent coconut cream pie.

@GardenGerty - I do both... Depending upon how much time I have, I will either make it, or buy it.
