Oh no, how stupid can I get?

I suppose that the only logical answer would be that there is no limit, as I seem to keep proving.
The evenings are definitely getting much colder lately, so I decided that it was time to make a good old Lancashire winter dish, potato hash. While out shopping today I bought potatoes, vegetables and corned beef. Since I knew that I had Oxo cubes at home I assumed that I had everything I needed.
On arrival home I realised that I do not have a large pan. I remember now that it got burned a while ago and I threw it out, but never got around to replacing it.
It looks as though I am shopping for a large pan tomorrow.

lol Couldn't make a smaller version? I have more than one large pan but then I do cook a lot. I make a list on my phone of items I need to purchase, it helps me to overcome the memory issues that are part of aging or just being distracted.

We all do things like that so don't feel bad. You let your tummy lead the way and it led you astray so you're not at fault.
Heck, today I intended to get a USB converter so that I could run a HDMI cable from my PC to my TV and out I go to the store. I remembered the milk, coffee, vinegar and butter but now that I'm reading this I'm reminded I had actually intended to get that converter, not the other stuff

At least you had the sense to write it down @hereandthere I'm so confident that I won't forget that I never write things down which is really stupid. Last month I went shopping for cat litter twice and bought everything else I thought I needed yet no litter, talk about stupid.

"now that I'm reading this I'm reminded I had actually intended to get that converter, not the other stuff " - that happens to me, too, even with a list in my phone because either i ignore the list, confident that i remembered everything, or i was speedreading and my eyes missed it.

At least you already have the ingrediants to put in it when you get the pan home

@Asylum no harm done - just frustrating that you couldn't eat it when you wanted

I have a few extra pans I can send you, since they are just collecting dust in my kitchen due to my complete lack of cooking ability! haha

I've not done that particular thing lately, thrown out a pan and forgotten about it, but I have lost a pan or lid before when one or the other of s put in in the wrong cupboard. I've been planning on making BLT's for supper for a few days now. This afternoon my husband offered me some leftover sloppy joes which I did have and he had a hamburger which almost used up all the bread. After cooking the bacon for a bit, I realized I needed to go out in the snow to the store before eating so we could have our BLTs. I should have noticed that earlier in the day.

@Asylum We wouldn't have had much of a supper without bread, plus it only snowed less than an inch anyway and melted the next day.

This is why God made shopping lists. I make them for all sorts of things, like replacing items that get ruined or thrown away.

@ElizabethWallace That would not matter to me because I never use PowerPoint.

@Asylum I use lists for such things, and leave my mind available for more important things, like remembering how to make a PowerPoint presentation.

How often do we need large pans in a single resident household? Of course you forgot.

@Asylum We call it corned beef hash and never mention the potatoes! I haven't made it in ages, but it's so good and you definitely need a large pan.

I do not see that as being stupid. It is just forgetful! Can you only make that dish in a big pan or can it be reduced and just have a side?
