~The Halloween Mama Bear Came Out~

It was a few years ago this happened. My kids were on the young side but not afraid of costumes or anything. I always told them it's just people under the costumes-nothing to be scared of. We were trick or treating in my parents neighborhood this year and the kids were having a great time until...we got to this one house. I could tell these people go all out for Halloween but I thought it would all be in good fun. We walk up there, and the guy dressed in a Jason costume starts up an actual chain saw! I ignore it and tell the kids to do the same but when they got closer to the "witch" handing out the candy the guy chases us with the saw!! My kids were terrified! I screamed at him to back off and get away from my kids! The next people after us called the law on him and I'm hoping he at least got reprimanded for his actions. Some people just take things too far. You don't chase little ones with a chain saw! Thank God my kids still aren't scared of Halloween from that experience...

That is enough to traumatize a child for life. I can't even how he thought that was even okay to do.

Yah, that guy shouldn't have done that to the little ones - he should have known better. I remember in those haunted house mazes, that close-up chain saw sound would scare me, and that was when I was a teen!

@much2say Yeah it was crazy for him to have done that. One of mine were in a stroller still so they were pretty young. My oldest was maybe 5!

@LovingMyBabies Oh yah, that is way too young - and those chain saws can be pretty loud ! I know now they have those fake chain saws in the Halloween shops, but in my time they used real chain saws (but I think they took off the chain part that actually saws, well at least they better have!).

Some people are so intense. I have had people do such things with excuse that they didn't like the kids coming around. Well, put up a sign then. Get tricked.

@silvermist I honestly think he must have been drunk or something. Which is the worst time to mess with a chain saw! People are so stupid sometimes...

That was very wrong on their part, nobody should be running around with a chain saw, especially in the dark around people who could run any which way and collide with him. Our neighbours used to have their teenager kids hide in the trees and drop out and scare the kids as they walked up to the door, no wonder we don't have anybody come around anymore.......

@Juliaacv Yeah anything horrible could have happened and he would have been responsible for it! There's just certain things you do not do and this was one of them. It would be scary for little ones if someone jumped out at them.

@LovingMyBabies We used to have parents running into our yard out of being scared from someone jumping out of the trees, their children would be crying. There is nothing fun about doing something like that because it just leaves a really bad memories for too many.

That was definitely over the top - what about if some kids had gone there on their own?

@jabouk I know! That's one reason my kids won't ever go on their own. If their too big for me to go then they don't need to go either. The world is too scary now a days.

I had a similar thing happen to me a couple of years ago when I was trick-or-treating with my kids. I want to say I think my daughter was 8 or 9 a the time. The guy started chasing her with the chainsaw, and she turned and smacked him right upside his head. I could tell he was pissed that he got clobbered by a little girl, but he brought it upon himself! That will teach him to mess with the wrong person!

@JamesHxstatic Yes it was! We didn't stick around but I do know those people moved shortly after that incident and the neighborhood was safe again during Halloween.

I don't think it is to far to wear a jason costume for Halloween but to far to go after with a chainsaw.
