Well, Halloween is over. Next holiday up is Thanksgiving. I notice LOTS of new recipes in my feed and in magazines.
A huge number of people skip Thanksgiving and go straight to thinking about Christmas. Again, in my feed on Facebook I notice tons of people selling stuff, or junk. This is all so they can buy more stuff and junk.
Have you noticed, people do not know how to slow down, be thankful, and think of the valuable things in life like family and friends.
Thank you myLot and myLot friends for making my life richer and better.

I have noticed in the last 10 years that the holiday shopping craze has gotten way out of hand. They seem to through the term Black Friday around way too early and call every sale a Black Friday sale. They already have christmas commercials on TV, ThanksGiving seems to have been forgotten. I find it all strange and very sad. I think people know when christmas is and that they need to go shopping for gifts. It is all about the money now. No longer about the actual holiday.

If we hype everything up so much people get brainwashed into believing that the amount of money we spend says what value we have.

@GardenGerty I agree with that. But people do seem to go overboard in this country with spending. It seems america has become all about material things. Sad really.

I have noticed that about a lot of people. Life is too short and passes by too quickly. You need to stop and enjoy it.

Are you talking about me? ROFL! I do need to get to the local facebook group and bump the few things I had up for sale and see if I can possibly get any takers. I need to see what else I can list up for sale. Not to go buy junk though, but to see about enough money to buy a battery for my car and renew the tag IF I buy that part and Johnathon actually gets over here to replace it, and IF that is all it needs to go again.

No, I am not talking about you. I am talking about people who buy stuff impulsively and never take it out of the box, etc. What part is it your car needs? That would certainly help though. Good luck. I know that as busy as you are, you do enjoy your family.

@GardenGerty It only needed a heater hose elbow, but then they broke the part that had to be moved to get to it. So far so good on the car. It did fine going to Inman and back yesterday.

Thanksgiving has become sort of a in between thing now days. Nope they don't know how to slow it down. Life is going so fast. Thanksgiving would be a good time to slow it a bit and just enjoy.

@GardenGerty well I try to be useful with presents, dad always gets money for more kindle books. And sometimes I write poems, or make homemade jerky or other things like that.

@GardenGerty O Glory! That's a good one. And when you are thankful for the cup-full, you get the Ocean-full.

We should all stop and be grateful for all that we do have. Thanksgiving is an important holiday as well that so many people do forget about.

When I used to live in the Philippines, some people start putting up Christmas decorations as early as September. And they don't take down the decors until well after January of the following year. Some people just associate more with Christmas festivities and would like to hold onto the season a little bit longer.

I like the traditions of a Thanksgiving feast, but I do notice that everything we do requires excessive food.

@GardenGerty I have noticed too. It seems that it has become so much important. I also like to make traditional food for Christmas, but for some people it's an obsession.

When we moved from the big metropolitan area and stopped working to move south - I slowed down as much as anyone can. I am thankful every day that we were able to stop working in our early 50's to enjoy life. Since we don't have family here we don't have to put a lot of stress on ourselves...we eat what we want for Thanksgiving and Christmas - whether that be a traditional meal or something quite outside the box.

It is sad how we are always longing for the next thing, without every stopping and just being thankful for today and the blessings God has for us. I love Thanksgiving and all that it represents. Everyday is a day of thanksgiving for me. Have a blessed day

Over at Michaels, they already clearanced out the Thanksgiving stuff before Halloween. I guess I can understand that sort of thing at a craft store, as most people would be working on their Christmas crafts right now and finished with the Thanksgiving ones. Although I agree that the Thanksgiving season seems to get lost in the shuffle between Halloween and Christmas.

I have not shopped Michaels often. I live closer to one now, and may in the future. In fabric and craft departments I can sort of see this. Regular merchandise not so much. I just got a couple of great Fall or Thanksgiving table cloths last week.

And it's nice of you thinking of Thanksgiving unto GOD for what HE has done thus far in the year despite the challenges and pain; there's still something good HE has done!
