Free Breakfast

I just had breakfast. And it was free! This morning, they hosted the first annual Veterans Breakfast, a free (donations accepted) breakfast for veterans charities. The public was welcome, especially we vets. And what a spread. Pancake's, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, and potatoes. I sat with a couple fellow Army vets and the parking enforcement officers. The food was great, as was the conversation. Thank you to all who served. Both the food and our country. Rather than a picture of my breakfast, I'll leave you with the greatest rendition of our National Anthem I've ever heard:

Glad breakfast was good. And a nice gesture. As for the video: WOW. Just wow. And a sad reminder of what a beautiful voice silenced all too soon.

In america is everyone who has served in the military in any way called a vet? Here it's maybe a little different.

Yes, if you served, wartime or peacetime, you are a vet.

@stbrians yes, vet is short for veteran. Not easy for the non english as a first language speakers but you'll notice it in context to the discussion.

I hope so. Hope they raised a decent amount. It wasn't crowded while I was there, but I came early.

a lot of places started doing veteran's things after my dad passed away. he would have been pissed to find out he missed all of them now.

I was reading comments last year, calling Lady Gaga's rendition the best Super Bowl National Anthem ever. They'd obviously never seen Whitney's.

It was nice. Both of them stayed here when they got out, whereas for me, it was coming home.
