So Frustrated With DicksSporting Goods

The day after the Chicago Cubs won the World Series I ordered a Cub Hat from DicksSporting Goods. They told me my item was in stock and would ship soon. 16 days later they are now telling me that that ship time has been extended to 4 weeks. Am I disappointed and frustrated with DicksSports, yes I am. I get about 4 emails a day from them about this sale and that sale but not one word from them about my order.
Today I chatted online with one of their agents as was told all this. Now this is a big company and one would think they would fill their orders in a timely manner. I guess that was my mistake for assuming that.
I got one excuse after another. I don't want excuses I want my hat. Period. I let the agent have it with both barrels, but in a nice way. After the Cubs won the Pennant I also ordered a shirt from MLB.com. Same thing they said it would arrive on a certain day and it hadn't even shipped by that day. I canceled that order. I haven't canceled the order with Dickssporting Goods but am considering it. I could have had my hat had I ordered from a different site. Thankfully this is not a Christmas present, it's for me. So either I wait or cancel and find the hat somewhere else.
I did buy another Cubs World Series hat from Walmart so at least I have that. I will have to think long and hard about ever ordering from DicksSports again. And I told the agent that. So buyer beware just because they are a big company doesn't mean they have a good system in place for fulfilling their orders. Amazon sure doesn't seem to have a problem with that.
Couldn't post this because Etsy said it was a bad word, that's why I put the 2 words together in hopes that this would post

My husband calls it "Dickies" and loves the place. I feel they are overpriced. Glad that we don't have one too close to home or he would spend a small fortune there.

There is one in the mall closest to my house, but I have only been in it a time or two. I never bought anything in there.

@snowy22315 I did buy my Cubs World Series t shirt there, it wasn't horribly priced, but I am frustrated about my hat. I just want it. I love my Cubbies, I have one jacket, 1 t shirt, 7 hats, and a staggering 17 t shirts.

We have one here too but they didn't have the hat I wanted. They are overpriced, but the hat was the same price all over the internet. So I suppose stupidly I assumed because they are a big company my order would ship in a timely manner, especially since my receipt says in stock.

I run all the youth athletic programs in my city's parks and recreation department, and DicksSporting Goods is a major sponsor of our leagues, so I have to tread lightly with them when it comes to criticism. I will have to say they have been a pretty awesome sponsor, and they are always giving us free stuff for our coaches and players. I do find that their merchandise is a little on the expensive side compared to other places in town. But competition is getting tougher for them since a new Bass Pro Shops opened across the street from them, so they now face stiff competition on a lot of their items.

@fishtiger58 I agree with that! Sometimes, companies get too big for themselves and lose sight of what's most important...the customers.

Well they really need to get their act together as they can and will lose customers because of their shoddy shipping

@moffittjc Isn't that the truth. I got an email today saying my order finally shipped.

Yes I have found that their bad word filter is sometimes a bit bizarre. Most big box stores can be less than stellar when it comes to their customer service, we're just one person and they are huge I guess it is the David and Goliath thing lol

@fishtiger58 I suspect the manufacturer has to make more they probably had to wait until the series ended to see who won to start production.

Not good business in my opinion. For all the emails I get from them daily they could just slow that down and get their orders out the door. That was the first time I couldn't post because of a word. I thought it was kind of funny I believe it sad can't post bad word lol.

@BelleStarr Yes it was back ordered but they didn't tell me that when I ordered, my email says it's in stock. Then later I was told it was back ordered and they don't know why it says that. I got an email today saying it shipped.

And I told the agent just that. I too love shopping online, yes sometimes you have to pay for shipping, but the money I save on gas and my time are worth it. And then you have the shopping law.... you must stop for lunch lol. It's law you know Anna lol.

@fishtiger58 What is the shopping law? The only shopping law that I know we have here, it's the 15 days time to send an article back if you change our mind about what we shopped. We do not need a reason to send the item back.

@LadyDuck Shopping law is if you go out Christmas shopping you must stop for lunch. I'm just joking.

Maybe you need to use a bigger sporting goods store that has better inventory.

@DianneN Supposed to be today, they say, last time I buy online from them. Almost a month, that to me is very bad business.

Sorry to hear about the long wait. Its one reason I'm using Amazon for a lot of things, as they actually ship on time most of the time. Yes, there are times I could have saved more elsewhere, but if I sit on the phone on hold for hours, then I'll just be mad and using my time poorly. I think of all the money to be made when I'm not on hold or hope to make that day.

Amazon by far has the best shipping I have ever seen. Not sure how they do it but a few times I got my item the next day. Amazing, all companies could learn a thing or two from Amazon.

It is always frustrating when things like that happen..My guess is so many people are ordering those hats they are on back order.

I'm sure that's the case and I can understand that. But my order form says in stock and until I complained I had no idea it was back ordered. They could at the very least have told me that. They certainly send me enough emails daily to squeeze one in that says that.

I'm surprised that you haven't gotten your order yet and still have to wait longer. I wouldn't blame you if you cancelled the order unless you really want the hat

I have only found the hat on 3 sites and the other 2 sites are worse at shipping orders out than where I ended up buying it. I thought they would be better but I was wrong.

@fishtiger58 Of course you do and you should get it. You might want to go into the store next time and get it instead of ordering online.

@just4him I did look there first but the particular hat I wanted it seems you can only get online. I actually got an email today saying my order had shipped. I'm happy about that.

I rarely shop online. I prefer to touch and feel in a bricks and mortar store.

I love ordering online, sometimes I do all my Christmas shopping online and everything comes to my house. I don't have to go out in the cold, love that.
