Is It What She Wants?

A neighbour asked me to make a baby quilt for her daughter, who is expecting a baby early in the new year.
A selection of fabrics and colours were previewed, but she really wasn't specific about what she wanted.
I had her look at pictures of quilts I've made in the past, hoping it would give me some insight.
After telling me she wants quite a bit of pink, but not all pink, she kept pulling out the lilac coloured fabric, as one she particularly liked.
The blocks are made, waiting to be assembled. A photo was emailed to her asking if she wished me to change anything before I sew it together.
Now I wait.
Hopefully it is close to what she envisioned. I like it.

I think it looks great. Sounds like the person you are making the quilt for might be unsure what she wants and just isn't letting you know that she is undecided. Good luck

I like it. If she chooses to not take it, I'm sure I can find a good loving home for it.

I do too, but she had some strange ideas when we were looking through the books and photos. This is actually my second attempt. Yesterday I assembled on block and had half a dozen partially assembled. I put it on my design wall and said, no, I don't like it. The next half hour I frog stitched and then I put it aside to ponder. This morning I had a brainstorm and this is the result.

I certainly hope she does. If not, I have a gift for a baby girl waiting in the wings.

@Morleyhunt i've a beautiful fabric panel the gal't the fabric store roped me 'nto buyin' o'er a year 'go now. 't the store we'd mapped the fussy cuttin' all out, bought other fabrics to go with 't. by the time i got home ('tis 'bout a 40 minute drive) i'd plum fergotten. i've no see-thru rulers 'n such lays'n the drawer untouched. did use the other fabrics fer other projects. yes ma'am, good thingy ya did. i can't draw/cut/sew a straight line. kinda challenged'n the math dept, lol. the hubs wonders how i e'er played pool since angles jest knock me fer a loop.

Fussy cutting the fabric made the entire project more difficult. Now I needed an oddball size square to use for setting. I guess it's a good thing I sometimes paid attention in math class.

@crazyhorseladycx you could cut a cardboard square and then cut out the inside, leaving just a 1/4 inch seam allowance. That would make it easier to fussy cut. I've done that using cereal boxes. For a stronger on a vinegar bottle or margarine lid also works.

That's very cute. I hope she likes it. However I would find it very hard to say I didn't like something if someone had gone to so much trouble with it.

@JudyEv who knows. When she first asked me to make it she made an appointment to meet with me and didn't show. Then she called about two weeks later, apologetic, and came by with a deposit.

You did an excellent job and I appreciate people who can craft as I am not gifted that way at all. My friend is a quilter and so I appreciate good work.

I'm looking forward to having it assembled. Right now it is just pinned to a bed sheet hanging on the wall.

@Morleyhunt Yes, that way you'll get a good view of it- guess you need to hang it on a pole!

Wow I can only imagine how long it took you to work on that so far and still more to go. I love quilts and I love hand made gifts!

I cut for about an hour on Friday night and I had this sewn together in the time it took me to get three loads of laundry finished.....I was multi tasking.

I hope I've captured what she envisioned. It's wait to hear and if I hear nothing....it must be okay.
