Christmas Decorations - a work in progress!

I had high hopes of having all the decorating finished by now and the plastic bins safety tucked away. Sometimes you have to go with Plan B! The mini-blinds I ordered and didn't expect to receive until Dec. 28th arrived so that was a detour - especially when my husband went to put up the one for the big window and it was the wrong color. The box said white, but the blind is grey. That means undoing what he had done and putting the old brackets back with the old blind. We will send the blind back. Then UPS showed up early and I had to stop to wrap gifts while my husband was busy elsewhere. Turkey soup was started yesterday and finished this morning, the house smells so good. So we plan on finishing the decorating today for sure, right after lunch.....maybe! Photo is mine. Those are my Annalee dolls...some of them belonged to my mother and others were given to me.

I remember your cute Annalee dolls. For the moment I have taken out the boxes of the decorations out from their storage place. I am going to decorate next Sunday, so everything is ready for the night of Saint Nicholas.

@AbbyGreenhill I have to ask to my husband to go out when I run the vac, he cannot stand the noise. I understand that with headache problem loud noises are a serious problem.

@LadyDuck What I can't stand is the very high pitched noises. It makes me crazy

Christmas decorations are something that I never both with. It would be different if I had family, but for just me it is not worth the hassle.

@AbbyGreenhill I love the concept of a Christmas cactus.

@Asylum I kept it outside in summer and inside in winter. It was a pyramid shape and I wrapped the lights around (carefully). At the time I had a cat and I figured he'd leave it alone..wrong, I hung plastic ornaments from the lights and he knocked them off w/o hitting any of the prickly things!

I was divorced for 17 years and I always decorated....For a few years I had a 4 foot tall cactus that I decorated instead of a tree. It was unique.

Aww! I love your dolls. They are adorable and a great way to decorate for Christmas. I hope you don't run into too many detours. =) I have my tree up and the fireplace decorated. I can't seem to find my tree skirt though. May just buy a new one.

I bought a new tree skirt at the end of the season last year. The previous one I made and had it for 30 or more years.

I like to put stuff out early because I enjoy looking at it - I come from a family of over-decorators LOL. It will stay up until at least the first week in Jan and the little trees can stay up thru Russian Christmas

Just wondering why the Turkey soup so early? Is it a practice run? LOL! I also have been getting Christmas Up and also glad like you to get those big plastic bins back away! I've done well so far and hope my momentum doesn't falter~

@AbbyGreenhill I was thinking Christmas and wondering why you're having it now. We had our turkey in Canada in early October- Prime rib for Christmas- we will have the traditional turkey. May do Prime Rib for New year.
