Not one minute of sleep last night....

....there was a little talk of bad weather but when the weatherman said no issues - just rain....I believed him. That was about 11:30 last night. I didn't believe him 100 percent, so I changed channels and just as I did a tornado Waring was issued in our area. That was the first of many and I decided to sit up and be prepared just in case.
Long night, and long story short - we had rain and very very strong winds. We have no damage, but other areas weren't so lucky. In the southern part of our small county they don't know if it was straight-line winds or a small tornado that tossed vehicles at a RV park.
In the county where we just sold the property - right down the road from it - a tornado hit and trees and power lines down all over the place. Twenty people taken to the hospital. Several buildings destroyed and it's a mess.
The same thing happened a few miles south in Ocoee and Benton, TN. Three people died there and many homes and businesses are destroyed.
Roads all over south east Tennessee are full with downed lines and trees. People were told to stay off the roads and stay off your cell phones.
As of 8 am we had received 1.8 inches of rain the day before and 3.5 inches last night and it's still raining, or should I say still pouring.
Between the fires in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge and the destructive weather here it has not been a good time for so many people.
What's next - I am afraid to find out.
Please say a prayer for your mLot friends in the south, thanks.
A severe storm that moved through East Tennessee overnight sent 20 people in McMinn County to the hospital, officials announced Wednesday morning.

Are tornadoes this late in the year an unusual thing? There is a lot of "fire and rain" going on down that way.

I don't remember any at this time of year in the 15 years we've lived here...further south in AL and MS it is more usual.

It is awful times 1000. It will get better, the fires will be out and the rain will stop and the sun will come out tomorrow...

My goodness. So sorry to hear of this. I have been watching the news about the horrible fire in Gatlinburg. So sad. Mother nature at her worst.

What we as people build is so puny and weak when at the mercy of the elements.

I hope everyone is safe! That's scary and uncommon to have wildfires there right??

I am so glad you and your husband, Ruby & your house are ok. Much of North Georgia including Atlanta was under a Tornado Warning most of this day and I heard a tornado hit an area near Atlanta. I am not sure how severe and bad it was. This has been crazy w,eather. I am keeping it all in my prayers from the fires to the Tornadoes.
