A friend of mine is in an impossible diet.

One of my friends has weight problems since forever. And she has also tried every possible diet.
When we were young, she bought all the magazines that said there was a new diet in its pages. None worked, basically because she would eat for 7 days only hard boiled eggs and water and then, the next day, she would eat everything in the fridge.
Finally she had a band placed in her stomach. She shed some pounds, but not too many as she learned to cheat and eat more anyway. The band stretched and the doctor had to take it away.
In one week, she put on around 10 pounds and she went again to a nutriologist last week. She gave her a diet in which she is now eating every 2 hours and only salads with pita bread.
If she doesn´t learn how to eat, she will have to have another surgery. But that is expensive and now she has more years and she has diabetes.
Do you have weight problems. How have you dealt with them?

@marguicha thanks. It had to be done. Still a long way to go.

It´s a mixture of exercising a bit more and eating a bit less.

I've been slightly overweight for most of my life - to me it seems like a lot, but I'm actually only just overweight by a little bit. The problem is that I'm unfit and I've never liked the way my body looks. I eat far too many snacks and unhealthy foods, and I don't get enough exercise. There was a time when I cycled everywhere, and during that time I lost a lot of weight even though I carried on eating whatever I wanted, but now I have my baby and I can't go out on my bike because I wouldn't be able to take him with me... I get absolutely no time to exercise, all I can do is change my diet but that's easier said than done when you have so little time for cooking and food shopping...

It´s difficult to go on exercising when you have a baby. That´s in part why so many women put on weight then.

@LilyBeBack The only way would be to have a help of sorts.

@marguicha I just don't see how any mother has the time for it, at least not until the kids start nursery, or if they have a baby who naps for a long time. Leonard wakes up the second I put him down

Eating only salads and pita bread doesn't sound very healthy to me. I think your friend needs a more balanced diet to lose weight successfully

I went to a diabetologist due to my resistance to insuline and she gave me a reasonable diet. Smaller amounts of carbs and plenty of salads and protein. She also gave me a list of food I should avoid. But that is a well balanced diet.

She has been in and out of all sorts of doctors during her life. But she also has told me that she was an overweight girl when she was small.

@marguicha Overweight children sometimes have a hard time of it as adults.
