It Finally Happened

We got up, and got ready to go to work and hubby's car would not start.Because of the cold he has been jump starting it every morning from the truck battery. It is just TOO cold today.
What that meant for us is that I quickly packed my lunch and hurried out the door with him, about forty five minutes earlier than I usually leave.
He drove past my school and let me out.
I waited for him a few minutes this evening and we rode home together.
Saturday we are looking at something new for him to drive. Finally found a motivated seller with a vehicle we like.
We have nine more work days until I have my Christmas break, so if we do not do something else I will be going in to work early for nine more work days. It could be worse.

I was almost late this morning because I had to let the truck run longer to defrost, guess I need to make a habit of starting it 10 minutes earlier.

I will enjoy my break. That is a great thing about working for the school district.

Yes, it could be. I remember my mom used to put a heater in by the motor to keep it warm so she could start it in the morning. Worked well. We had a mechanic in the family then who always had good ideas.

It is very cold and we do not have a garage, so even a new battery might have a hard time.

I will still wake up when my husband does, and have to get up, but if I want to stay in I will be able to.

I can't drive, but they say it is easier for the car that uses a diesel engine to start in winter.Sounds like you work at the school from morning to evening.

When my children were teens with summer jobs we had to do some creative shuffling. I would go to work for 7 AM. My son would walk the 3/4 of a Mike to his summer job. At 8 AM I would leave work, run home, pick up my two teenage girls, as well as the neighbour. Drop the neighbour off at 8:30 ( she started work at 9), drop off one daughter at her work at 8:45 ( she started at 9), then swing into the city, drop the last teen off at her work at 8:55, ( she also started at 9). Then I would high tail it back to work for an hour to finish my morning work. In the afternoon, we did the same circuit to pick up the girls. Twice a week the neighbour did the afternoon pick ups. My husband picked up our son and brought him home. The 'baby', she was 9, came along for the ride. I was glad when summer was over.

It's always something with cars. I am in Arizona visiting my aunt but my hubby tells me it's in the low teens at home and getting worse with each passing day. It's really going to feel cold when I go home on Monday, it's been in the low 70s here.
