Does SIRI understand you? Big Family Laughter!

One of my dad's gift I got him is the Philips Hue - essentially a smart light & I'm trying to learn all the features before explaining to my dad how it works. Oh great joy for me right? Well, there is SIRI on my phone & I never use her. It's sort of like Google Home or Alexa but for your phone - anyhow, I always disable her because I don't use the feature.... Anyway, I set SIRI and ... now I can just say "dim the living room lights... turn on living lights.. turn off bedroom lights..., dim living room to 50%... and so forth" and SIRI connects to the Phillips and control the lighting! - VERY COOL - But when my dad tries.. Dad: Turn living room lights off Siri understands , Living room light are on Dad: Turn bedroom lights on please Siri understands, Turn bedroom lights play My mom & I were cracking up It took my dad 3 tries and finally Siri understood.

I have so much fun with SIRI, and I think over time she has learned how to deal with me. She and I seem to be on the same wavelength now, and anything I dish out to her she dishes right back out to me! It's a beautiful love/hate relationship! But my son, on the other hand, he cannot get SIRI to understand him no matter how hard he tries! The two of them just cannot get on the same wavelength. So, it is very funny to listen to him try to communicate with her!

Haha! It was hilarious watching my dad communicate with Siri too. Then my dad almost gave up and finally Siri understood. :) He calls Siri Honey haha.

@infatuatedbby I've called SIRI a few choice names over the years. Some of them are words that can't be repeated in front of children! lol

That's very interesting. Now I just realized Siri can do more high-tech features such as connecting the lights and controlling it As time goes by, it will be smarter and will not act so silly

That is funny. Did you see the episode of The Big Bang Theory where Raj gets a SIRI phone? Too funny.

That is indeed a cool app on your phone interconnected with the gift to your dad . At least you don't have to manually switch it on and off . You can just command it to switch off if you are already in bed . Cool !

Yes, it's a cool app you can control. Faster if you use Siri so you don't have to open the app and remotely control. Dad loves it!

@infatuatedbby I just don't like though to add apps which eventually i won't be using , because it slows my phone . That's a nice one indeed for you dad . I am happy for you that you dad liked your gift .

@SIMPLYD Oh yes! I only have apps that are useful and ones I use. I don't like to have a lot of nonsense apps too. I deleted all my games since I don't play any now too :)

Maybe Siri understands only when we speak in lower register? I'd be laughing too lol. But it is a great feature indeed. How much did those cost you said?

The Philips Hue Starter Kit was $55.. I had $5 rewards to Best Buy and the starter kit as on sale for $55 originally $70 :)

@Madshadi Yep not too bad =) You can get the entire kit ~ it's more expensive but dad doesn't need much.

I'm laughing, as enjoy the Siri commercials on television. It sounds like a feature that would be useful in several rooms of my house. The last few days I have seen the couple on vacation and the birds are in their place because the windows are open.

I've never had a SIRI phone. I probably wouldn't read the directions and have no idea how it works.

Hehe it's on apple devices (or iPad, iPhone) you can talk to Siri for instances, tell siri what you want to write on a text message and have her send it, etc but I don't use the feature... :) Just enabled it today to start using it so I can teach my dad but she can't understand his accent completely lol
