New Story

After watching so many Hallmark Christmas movies, I thought it would be interesting to write a Christmas story. I've also found in the past when I had trouble with one book, starting another jump started my brain cells and I was able to get the first book moving forward. I'm hoping that will be the case with the new story.
The new story is called Three Wishes of Christmas. I'm only on page three with just over a thousand words written and working on sensory details. Other than it focusing on Christmas, I don't have much else at this point, including the conflict of the story, but I'm sure as I get to the end of chapter one, still a long ways to go for that to happen, I'll have the conflict figured out for the story.
So that's one reason why you haven't seen much of me today. As well as the fact I was in the pool shortly after 5 this morning. The Y opens at 5, and I had a hair appointment this afternoon.
I need to write when the juices are flowing so I know in which direction this story is going. What I do know is I have two names so far, the main character and her boss. I don't even have sparks flying yet, but that should happen in the next couple pages.
That has been my day today. I hope you've had a good day. On the bright side, it's slightly warmer today than the last few days, which is a good thing.
What have you been doing today? Thanks for reading.

I usually do a outline first. Then I know where the story is headed, characterization and such.

I've tried that. It doesn't work for me. My stories are character driven, so outlines just don't work for me. I write first page to last and it has always worked for me. Even when it came to editing and revision there was very little to do revision wise.

so what is the story about? I have been compiling poems into a document to start editing them and turning them into a book. It may never sell, but by golly I am going to try

@Jessicalynnt So far it is. I'm not sure if I'm done with the first chapter or not. I do have the tension built up on two fronts now, so it should start writing itself.

I really don't know yet. I'm only on page 3. I have 1337 words on it so far and will have more tonight and hopefully the first chapter finished. So far it's starting in a department head meeting for a large department store. They are looking for a new slogan for the upcoming Christmas season that is six months away. The main character doodles an idea on a sketch pad during the meeting and the owner/ceo asks her about it to the annoyance of a colleague who had worked hard to come up with someone. The slogan she has is the name of the book. That's it so far. I haven't even gotten into any conflict yet, but I'm starting to work it in.

My one that's a few years in the works is coming down to crunch time and I'm having a hard time with it. I had an idea for a new story and I'm hoping that one will jump start my brain cells so I can finish the one that really needs to be finished NOW.

I have so many story ideas started and waiting on the back burner, I'm not sure that I'll ever have or make enough time to work on them again. Today, I got my unna boot removed and they put another one on again. The ulcer is looking a lot better and will hopefully be much improved before my surgery at February's end.
I also worked out this morning, but I was still sleeping at five am. Course, I didn't go to bed until one pm or so. I got on the treadmill for about ten to fifteen minutes. The first time I've been on it since my leg got worse. I was able to walk normally the whole time I was there, which was a first and great. After supper, I spent time helping my daughter get some packing done for her upcoming move to the west side of the state.
Have yourself a Merry Christmas celebration, Valerie with your sons or whomever you spend time with on that day.

Yes, it will be my sons and my oldest son's girlfriend and her children. I'm glad the ulcer is doing better and hope it's gone by the time you have your surgery.
I have a lot of them too that I don't know if I'll ever finish. I hope so.

@JudyEv I actually got 6 hours last night. I'll be working on it more today. I'm close to figuring out the conflict and then I'll be off to the races fixing the problem only to make it worse before it gets better and comes to a good conclusion. There is nothing more satisfying for me than writing.

It's Christmas themed. I don't know the plot yet as I'm only 5 pages into the book. I have no idea when it will be finished.

I find that very true. When we get an idea we need to get them down. Sounds like an interesting story.

I won't be posting the story. It's going to be a novel and one that might get published, we'll see. I'm sorry about your wait. I will give updates and tell what it is about when I know what it's going to be about besides Christmas.
