I'm really not on myLot today. Busy preparing for tonight's festivities. But I had to drop by to tell my friends that Orville, the osprey, has returned! His leg seems fine. He is chirping happily. He stopped by my window several times this morning. He is alive! Happy New Year to you all! I will see you next year. Back to my shrimp.

Happy New Year may 2017 be healthy, happy and prosperous for you and your family. It might be that Orville had to keep his nest warm while his mate went in search of food, from what I've been watching it seems this is nesting season for the eagles.

So that's what he's been trying to tell you @DianneN he was excited that his mate was "pregnant" and looking forward to becoming a father yet again. Thank you so much, may this new year be one of healing so that your hubby will be back to his usual self ... within logical limits of course ... and with lots of happiness and prosperity.

@lovinangelsinstead21 That is so sweet! I love those birds, too, but Orville is my special boy. He flew by my window earlier today to show off a fish he caught. I always tell him what a good boy he is and clap my hands. Lol!

I just read your other post, so I'm glad Orville is doing just fine. I wonder what happened - but in any case sounds like he healed up from whatever was bothering his leg - yay ! A happy new year indeed!!

Fantastic! Ospreys are also called sea hawks (ahem, attention Seattle) and (I looked this up) have wingspans of nearly six feet. Your bird looks pretty big. I once walked out my front door and froze immediately to see a red-tailed hawk sitting on a fence post about twenty feet from me. It looked pretty big, but I bet not as large as your osprey.

@DianneN So red tailed hawks are aka chicken hawks so not surprising they are after squirrels —and cats! You probably aren't old enough to remember Foghorn Leghorn (of Boy-I-say-Boy fame) and his quest to teach a young chicken hawk how to be a chicken.

@blitzfrick I'm not familiar with that. I will try to find it. Usually the hawks don't bother with large cats, but if they are hungry, they kill them with a peck to the head, and then rip off chunks to eat in a tree. I would die on the spot if they did that to our cat. I always carry a big stick with me when we are out in the yard.

Lol! Orville is huge for a sea hawk or raptor. We don't mention Seattle Seahawks in our house. Ha ha! They mate for life. I have even met Mrs. Orville several times and watch him teach his son's to fish. So amazing! We have a few red tailed hawks at our other house. One swooped down after circling the cat. Scared the heck out of me. They are big birds, too. I watched a young hawk try to catch a squirrel, but he kept missing, thank goodness!

Funny guy! It is one of my appetizers, but perhaps they'd allow a pet shrimp here. Will have to check the condo association notes.
