I guess our big "event" right now is the New Year. For some reason I associate certain things with the turn of the calendar. I like to clean things out. Get rid of left overs in the refrigerator, go through the filing cabinets and purge.
We never went out anywhere when I was a kid, but my mom would sometimes make special goodies for at home. I was impressed with myself the first time I was able to make it to midnight. My dad had an old bugle he would blow in the front yard as the the clock changed over.
My best memory of a New Year's Day is with my husband. He has an interesting mind. I guess I was kind of moping around and there was cold and snow on the ground but not very much. He told me to get dressed warm. We went and bought inexpensive binoculars and we went out watching wildlife in the lake areas that were near by. Totally unique, and I loved it.
I am waiting for him to surprise me again.

Well, right now he is still working on cars, but we still have some days off. It will happen, or I will surprise him for his birthday this week.

That would be great. I think we may start a new tradition and go out looking for the eagles that visit here this time of year.

That sounds wonderful. When I was a teenager our youth group had a lock in for New Year's Eve one year. That night we drove downtown, just to see the fireworks. We went to Bricktown, and you would see limo after limo (who knows why people rent limos for the new year celebration), and the door of one limo opened and girl leaned out of it and started throwing up. We went right back to the church for the rest of the night. 
It wasn't that big of a new year, but I do remember it because of that!

That would have been what my younger sister would have called a "best bad example". I remember doing New Year's Lockins.

It is so hard for people who have to normally go to bed in the daytime. Vince did not make it either.

Right now he is working hard on making sure all is well with the cars when I have to go back to work. I hope we get to go look for eagles at the lake, though.
