If I ask you a question....

United States
January 2, 2017 8:00am CST
....will you answer me? Sometimes people are afraid to ask questions. Maybe they think it might make them appear to be stupid. I know that once in a blue moon I come across a phrase or such that I don't get but I won't ask about it. I guess I am afraid people will laugh. I want to make people laugh with me not at me, big difference. I will say - if you ask me a question I will answer you. So, if I ask you one, will you answer me? I used to tell my students that "The only stupid question is the one you didn't ask!" Not absolutely true, of course, but good enough for most purposes. If you ask me a question, I will usually answer it, though my answer may not always be what you expected!

There is no such thing as a stupid question. There is always something that we do not know, despite so many others considering it to be obvious.a

There are no stupid questions, sometimes there are stupid answers. When I do not know something I ask and people who do not know the answer should refrain from replying.

I don't know.. I generally don't ask personal questions, such as "why are you single?" I'm afraid it'll make me look tactless and nosey. xD

Yes of course I would if I knew the answer. I am not one to ask a lot of questions either for fear of being laughed at. I was like that going to school too. One comment that was always on my report cards was that I should ask more questions.

I will... I would love to...thats what will get the conversation go ahead...and all great friendships relationships start with a conversation....a mere conversation...and whats the matter if the conversation starts with a question...i guess thats a good reason to talk to people...to interact....to know about others...about their life...about their cultures...about everything you dont know... :)

There are impertinent questions, ill-thought-out questions, and questions that prove you weren't paying attention, but there are no stupid questions - or so I thought before becoming a middle school teacher. I do tell my students that it is better to ask a question and be thought foolish than to stay ignorant and actually be foolish.

That is a good way to put it. Someone once told me no question is stupid. I have always been curious and sometimes I do go overboard in asking, but, there are things if I do not know then I ask.
