So, who are the really good writers on Mylot?

That's Ally, she and I are the onlys in our species here.

It ain't me, that's for sure and I really don't think a published writer like Jean Auel or James Joyce or Zane Grey would spend much time writing serious essays here. Mylot wasn't intended to be a writing site like some of those that actually pay up to $500 for a well written essay where quality is deemed important. Punctuation and grammar has to be correct and I know I'd flunk out in that dern place. And so I have offended someone just cuz I was honest, so be it. Have I finally moved up in the ranks? I iz blocked cuz of that.

I don't aspire to be a great writer. The thought of being a published author has never crossed my mind. Dabbling in a site like Mylot of the old Bubblews.....that is as deep as I plan on going.

I agree with both of you @morelyhunt & @simplyd , I'd rather not worry about trying to meet the demands places like Hubpages expects in order to pay $500 for what I've written. I don't have the kind of expertise that site expects in order to pay good money.

@rebelann I noticed that at least one Mylotter was very offended by what you wrote. I would have commented on his tirade, but he has blocked me. My opinion is not one he wants to hear.

You are correct - this is not a writing site. This is a social site that happens to pay a few pennies.

Exactly @AbbyGreenhill I had such a hard time at Gather.com, Bubblews and PersonaPaper because I just am not that talented a writer. I was learning to try though, which at least made it a good learning experience but I love Mylot because I don't have to worry about the structure of my discussions.

@rebelann I made a lot of money at Bubbs. Gather I didn't care for and PP wasn't the best earning experience.

I think I like to know more about who are the interesting writers on myLot. It seems it has been a week for people to be petulant. I obviously missed the post this is referring to as well.

I did not mean you are petulant, want to make that clear. It is people who get in an uproar and block others for no good reason that concern me. I will admit I have blocked someone, but I felt I had a good reason.

I see your point @GardenGerty I haven't blocked anyone either because I feel that if my discussion leads to other discussions who am I to try to stop that process. I see no reason to mention names but it is a shame that people take offense when someone simply speaks their mind .... I wasn't vulgar either, I promise.

I responded to a post about quality of posts here. myLot does not mind anything as long as it is not a violation. I see how careless most are here with their grammar and spellings not because they are not good at it but simply because myLot does not mind. I have churned out hundreds of articles for various sites and have earned quite a bit.

@rebelann I too have contributed good posts here including my poems which are well received. I will never take advantage of the leniency here.

Out of the hundreds of people who write discussions here only a few are really good writers so obviously you are one of the few @allknowing

Mylot is not about whether or not someone is submitting a good piece of writing, it's only about discussions which means that poor grammar, poor punctuation and poor usage of English is of no concern to them. On sites like PersonPaper it is different plus they have a minimum word requirement.

Yes, this site is all about having discussions @henryflynn most on Mylot write as they speak, I know I do, and grammar or punctuation usage is of no real concern here.

Yes, some without talent seem to think they can compete with the likes of Steven King or Jane Auel yet have no talent ...... and then there are those with a wealth of talent who think they have none, those are the ones that I would love to see get published.

Exactly, but somehow I was supposed to agree that they should pay us more for what we write .... we're lucky Mylot pays what they do.

Many Internet sites do have members that are excellent writers, while some are just passing their time. It's all good.

That's true and all I really meant is that Mylot is a discussion site more like facebook so why would an excellent writer waste his/her time here when they could be on Hubpages making real money.

I'm no writer myself and don't presume to be one. This site is like Facebook to me, with pay. I don't know why you would be blocked, but I wouldn't worry about it. I've blocked a few, but for different reasons.

Yeah, like Facebook only better. Well, I'm not frettin but I did think it was funny. There are some really touchy people here that will take offense if someone is honest with them, it's too bad really. So far I haven't found a reason to block anyone. Then again I rarely respond to discussions about politics or religion, both just cause trouble.

I am a writer, I like to think I write well. But I am not one to judge others so I cant say who is and who isn`t good.

to me a great writer on mylot is someone that posts original topics that I like to read. if you're blocked don't worry about it...I used to get blocked...A LOT But, with help from others, I got unblocked by most and misunderstandings were put aside and I'm now only blocked by a few idiots that bore me anyway

I'm not worried, I think it's funny. This is a discussion site and expressing opinions is part of that process which is all I did. Not my loss. I prefer to have conversations, when it comes to reading lengthy articles I prefer the Smithsonian.
