Yes friends there is hope and light at the end of the tunnel or should I say day as each day is slowly getting longer. That's the good thing about getting over the Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year along with the darkest time of year for those in the Northern Hemisphere.
Each day I feel the slow build of longer days and it heartens me as we do a slow march toward Spring. Even though I find January and February long months at least we are headed in the right direction. Do you see the days getting a little longer?

@MarymargII I'm getting it today. Not really. I know what comes after spring and I am NOT a fan of summer. I do look forward to fall though.

@just4him Great for you- we had a mix of snow and rain and now it's just raining- not so much snow this year at all!

@MarymargII I do not fully hate February because it's the month of my birthday and the celebration of Carnival, the one of Venice is especially nice.

@MarymargII Carnival is a festive time before the Lent and people celebrate going around wearing costumes and masks. The Carnival of Venice is famous because the costumes there are beautiful, it has been held from centuries.

@LadyDuck Now that's interesting- what happens at Carnival and what are they celebrating in Venice?

When I was a bus driver I always felt that February was the longest month. It was so dreary. Since I am up and about every morning, I think I see minutes or seconds earlier sunshine on the really good days.

Yes, it is a slow march but you're right Winters can have a terrible grey feel all the time! Love the sun to come out!

Long or short I have fixed hours to be active. I wake up at the same time every day and so also get to sleep almost at the same hour unless we have guests.

I must say that most all of us do too, however, the dark often makes you feel more apt to be inactive and can effect the mood!

@marymargll The birds have started singing earlier here and they're getting in the way of my sleep.

I really haven't noticed the days getting longer. It still gets dark way too early for my taste.

Since it's been cloudy a lot lately toward dusk, I don't necessarily see the longer days as yet, but I do look forward to getting the longest night out of the way.

True- the southern hemisphere is opposite and it is all very odd. I'd like to switch hemispheres every Winter here---lol!

It does help when it's snowy and blowy out like it was today- however, now it's turned to rain!

We hadn't noticed until the sunny day on Friday. Then it was soon apparent that it was already light much later than two weeks ago. On those gloomy gray days it isn't as noticeable.
