Smacked on the chin by a hook!

Nooo, not a hook-er, but a shepherd's hook, the kind you stick in the ground to hang plants on. Because the backyard birds like sitting on the two plants hanging there, we left them hanging beyond the fall weather. With the snow and ice we have had, the plants, unnoticed by us, grew heavier. The pole they were hanging on fell over yesterday, with the baskets attached. I went out to get the baskets off so the pole would not bend. One hook that held a basket was stuck. When I finally forced it off the steel pole, the pole popped forward and hit me sort of forcefully on my chin. An inch or so higher and I would have lost some teeth. All I got was a superficial cut needing a band-aid and Polysporin. It looks fine this morning. I told Anne this proves that I can "take it on the chin." I am sure it was not a left hook.

Lucky it didn't knock you out. It's a weird feeling when something turns loose and you realize it's going to smack you in the face and there is nothing you can do within the millisecond before it happens. Luckily being raised on a farm and getting smacked a couple times taught me if I'm going to pull on something to stand to the side just in case it suddenly turns loose. Or come up with a different plan where I don't have to stand in front of the object (such as using a crowbar to pry it loose).

I was immediately relieved that it did not hit me in the teeth and made any pain involved negligible.

I am sorry James, I hope it's nothing serious. It is incredible how heavy the vases and pots become now that they are full of ice.

@JamesHxstatic Today is snowing, I have to check that the snow does not create too much weight in some areas.

It was not too bad after a few minutes, no band aid needed today.

@JamesHxstatic - I'm so glad you are OK! I saw Elizabeth several times this week and told her everyone missed her. She said she would be on the site occasionally in the future.

It surprises me that accidents happen so quickly. Sometimes there is just no way an accident can be avoided. I'm glad it wasn't worse. No doubt, so are you.
