Tomorrow will be the Final Attempt...

# 52 I got a call from an unknown number and when I answered it was from UPS. A UPS driver has been attempting to make a delivery for the last 2 days but the caller said no one was home to answer the door... Actually, my son was home both days but he was fast asleep and did not hear the door bell rang... So the caller said tomorrow they will make a final attempt before they will return the package to sender... I told my son he better be up to receive the package or his aunt (my sister) won't be happy when the package is returned all the way back to California... Anyway, the package contains gifts for my sons so they better be somewhat responsible that it is received safely at their end... I guess my next discussion will be on what happens to the package and hopefully on what is in it... Aren't I just so predictable? Credit Image: Pixabay

I have never had a package return because I wasn't home to get it. Most times they leave it or leave a note that I have to sign so the package can be delivered without my being home.

@sishy7 often times they will leave it with a neighbor. Yesterday I was a little miffed over the fact that FedEx came to my house, parked, and left without leaving a package that was supposed to be delivered yesterday. My only thought is that it was on the roster for delivery, but they forgot to load it in the truck.

@ElusiveButterfly Oh, that's not good... Will you then have to wait until Monday? That would be a few days later than when it was supposed to be delivered...

Luckily I have never had one either. But it happened to a friend of mine - she was on vacation and no one got the unsuccessful delivery notices so the package was eventually returned back to sender.

I wonder what is inside Normally if they can't attempt delivery you'd have to drive down to get it somewhere?

@Jessicalynnt I told my sister next time she's sending a package requiring a signature she should addressed it to my office instead where someone will always be there to accept and sign for it anytime during regular business hours of 9am-5pm Monday thru Friday...

@sishy7 I am not sure I have had one come here that needed that, or if it did, they left it anyways

Around here they may leave the package if they notice cars in the driveway or something. Some drivers will leave packages while others may not. Maybe it depends on how often each one is in our area and whether they feel the package will stay put until we all get home from work or up for the day.

@MarshaMusselman I think the sender (my sister) requested that as it turned out the package contained some rather valuable items...

@sishy7 We have that here too, but they don't always follow that unless it's certified in some way where the sender needs to see the signature of the receipt.

Many companies only try once and if nobody is home they leave a card telling you to collect it. A week later it would be returned.

I saw the other post but didn't read it yet as you mentioned there was a previous post . . . I wanted to know what happened in chronological order . So here I am! I thought these delivery guys left post-its at the door, do they not do that anymore? Well I hope knowing that he was getting a gift, it got your son to wake up earlier . Last chance !

@sishy7 We "get" each other *high five* At least they were making attempts to get it to you. I've had notes put on the door about packages that were to be picked up at a particular post office or FedEx place . . . I didn't even have a chance for another delivery attempt . . . instead I had to drive somewhere and wait in a long line to get it .

You always know how to follow what's in my confusing, going round and around mind... They did after the failed second attempt - I guess they wanted to make sure we're aware there would be a third and final attempt after that...

Yes, they were and my sister herself contacted my son last night as apparently UPS also notified the sender that they would be making a third and final attempt...

No, I have not... When I arrived home, a UPS notice was stuck on my front door with a number I could call in case of any issues... Good thing the package was finally received safely and I didn't need to call...

It sounds a little scammy to me. Can you look up the number and call to see if there really is a package? Are you expecting one? If not, proceed with caution.

This is not unusual. Our dog was barking - a bark that indicated that someone was at the gate. It took a while for us to check and there was no one there. Our neighbour said there two men and from the explanation I knew who they could be. There will be a complaint now that we did not open the door for them
