I'm A Bit Perplexed

My grandson has been out on Christmas break since December 22nd. He was to go back to school on Wednesday, January 4th. Due to snow, ice and treacherous road conditions there were snowdays from January 4th until January 10th. The Boise School District were sending out emails from their 'public affairs' department. So I get one on 10th that was sketchy at best. The first paragraph said what their plan was but was not plane at all. Then down at the bottom they wrote out in black font the dates and what days were school days. January 11th was not listed in that list as a snow day or regular school day but it did say 17th through 20th were regular school days. So I called a family meeting and told my grandson and daughter what I had read and my interpretation of it . We went forward with that. I slept in the next morning(January 11th because I had gotten this email and felt there was no school until January 17th) instead of getting up at the crack of dawn to check the news for snow day announcements.
When I do get up on the 11th and check my emails I find an email from the school district saying it is a school day. I tell my daughter and grandson. My grandson says he is not going until the 17th. My daughter and I tell him he really needs to get back. No! I called the school and spoke a helper/social worker and I tell her the situation. She tries to talk my grandson into going back tomorrow(12th-today) No, he wont do it. So, she ends the conversation by saying that will have to be okay and when he gets back they will get with him and get the work he missed done and all will be okay. No worries. Right?
So what should happen today? They have another snow day today due to ice! Can you believe it? There will probably be another one tomorrow because it is nice and sunny out. My daughter said it is slushy and there are big puddles so I will wager that tomorrow morning will be another icy one.
Geesh!

Oh my! I remember when they had so many snow days in our district that they actually shortened one of the vacation weeks. This was so they didn't extend the school year into July. It did go to nearly the end of June.

They said they might take off part of the spring break but I doubt they will have to unless they have more snow days.

@celticeagle At least the plumber is finally here. I do not envy his job- taking apart the skirting on this house and then going under it. Oh Gawd on the bill. 120 something an hour and yet I do not blame him. Not one bit. Must have water. We are a barbaric camp right now.

have they thought to extend school days into some summer days? since they seem to miss a lot there.

They had thought of taking some days of the spring break but didn't have to as yet anyway. They just left one early release as a full day and some things like that.

Over a week. Hope there is no more of them. They really mess with our schedule and getting him to bed is problem enough.

Yes, it does. They had a school day today but he isn't going. So, he missed two out of the three days this week. But, will go back on the 17th.

We here in Canada do not have many snow days. We are used to navigating the snow and cold. I can't remember my kids ever having a snow day. In the rural areas if it is too cold then the school bus is cancelled but the schools are still open for the most part.
