[/i]"Kill nothing but time. Be kind always. Take care of the living things"[/i] This is what it says on my profile. We went to an Asian buffet last night. Here is what my fortune cookie said: "Killing time murders opportunities" and it is probably true. I suppose it may depend on how you choose to kill time. They are opposing views, I think. MyLot is one way I kill time. I think it gives me opportunities and connections. I have other ways of killing time, or passing time, that maybe are not as good. How about you?

I also seem to kill a lot of time but it's doing things I enjoy, like myLot, scrapbooking, adult coloring books.

I think it is good for us to kill some time in that way. I would throw reading in as another time killer that is good.

@GardenGerty Absolutely! I love to read but haven't had time to do much of it lately.

For me "killing time" is defined as "the useless activities I do whilst am waiting for something big to happen." Like twiddling my thumb in between meetings. I think depends on how I define my activities during that period, it can go from killing time to use fragments of time to do something beneficial. I usually myLot during these periods, and I don't see it as a waste of time, it's more of a mental break. As we're not build to perform useful activities 100% of our waking moments, having downtime, is just as important. Oh and I recommend.. we should kill more stuff "e.g. mosquitoes, germs.. etc" but not time.

I know. MyLot is not a useless pursuit. I think more of the digital activities as being time killers for me. That would be television and facebook and things like that.

I hate killing time, as we're given so little of it to begin with, and so much has to be spent on responsiblities and things we don't really want to do.. anytime I'm given time to do with as I please, I'd rather not waste it!

It may be in how we feel about our activities in our leisure. If we are engaged, and feel good about them, then they are not time killers.

@GardenGerty I don't mind it while I'm doing it.. but when I look at the clock and see I've spent 3 hours doing something unproductive I feel guilty. Maybe it's just my life right now.. always busy and things always needing to be done. I'm sure when the kids are older and I have more free time I'll feel differently.

That is very valid. So some may be killing time, others passing time and you are spending time. Time is valuable, so it is true we choose how we spend it.

There are many of these sayings which contradict each other. Many hands make light work but too many cooks spoil the broth, etc. I think myLot is a great way to kill time.

I think that I like "passing time" as a word choice, rather than killing time. Yes, myLot is a great way to pass time in a relaxed way. It is funny, you are right. . . many adages are contradictory.

Interesting fortune in your cookie. I think I have ways of killing time that aren't so profitable, like playing games on the computer. But to me it is a stress reliever therefore I'm not grouchy to others so maybe it's a good thing and not so bad after all.

I don't consider being on here killing time...I think the entire winter season for me is killing time until spring.

You are anxious for spring. No, being on here is not killing time, but maybe being on social media is.

I don't know about killing time, but I always think that if you've wasted time but enjoyed doing it, it wasn't wasted.

I would say that killing time only kills opportunities, if the way you kill time is wasteful, I have fun and earn money on here, so while it may pass time, I dont think it kills it,. hehee

You are right on this one, I believe. MyLot is a time pass. Even going out and laying under the stars is a therapeutic time pass. I think if we are bored and just going through the motions it is killing time.

Those flowers will be lovely to see. I would say you are "spending" your time as someone else suggested. It is yours and you are putting it to great use.

Probably at the end of the road we will all recall time we 'killed' that might have been better used.
