I Feel So Frontiersy!

Last week I mentioned some family problems that caused some issues. One of the things that happened was that I lost access to my washer and dryer. So this evening I decided to do it the "old-fashioned" way. Not exactly "old-fashioned." I've been using five-gallon buckets and a plunger (brand new and clean, thank you), not the old galvanized steel washing tubs and washboards. The clothes are drying on a rack in my living room with a fan blowing on them. Gee, I feel so frontiersy! Next thing you know I'll be churning butter! Here's the classic Joe Walsh song about doing laundry:
Track 5 from pictured album, enjoy

Butter is easy to make. Just put cream (full cream) in a jar and shake. We do it in school to demonstrate to the students. I used to wash my clothes by hand to save those few dollars I would spend at the laundry mat.

I'm single, so spending $800-$1200 on a washer/dryer is just wrong in my economy.

@FourWalls there are top loader washers for 2 to 3 hundred and we always hang our clothes to dry; winter and summer. So, if you wash them by hand about 50 times, you will have save enough laundromat money to buy a washer.

Make sure you get a new bucket and plunger before you start churning butter.

Flexibility and ingenuity. If it works for you that is great. My mom never had a dryer. She did not even have a place for a dryer.

I've had to wash clothes in the bathtub before and it's not a lot of fun at all.

I suspect you could illustrate just about anything with a song!

When I was middle school I had to do all my washing in the bath tub. My jeans and t-shirts. That was what I wore. I don't recall us every having a washer and dryer except when I was a young girl and when I moved out on my own.
