Cruise Away

My dad has six sisters, and he dotes on them. My Aunt Joyce is vocal about him being her favorite brother, although everyone knows each sibling would do anything for each other.
Over ten years ago my dad's siblings went on a cruise. I went as well as I still had money from my car accident, and hadn't been put on disability (my sister also came, and was my roommate). They all (mainly the brothers) couldn't come, but it was fun, and my late mom didn't have dementia, so it was great.
They've all been saving for a couple of years to go again, and although my dad didn't know he'd be married again, he managed to come up with enough for Diana to go (they left Saturday). I guess if you have so many people coming in a group, you get some kind of discount. Four of his sisters are going, two with their husbands (the other two are widows).
I told him to bring me back something weird or unusual. They are going to Jamaica, and then several stops in Mexico. The cruise I went on was to Cozumel, and one or two other stops in Mexico. But I've never been to Jamaica, so hopefully he'll find something to bring back. I used to collect candles so I'm hoping maybe he'll grab a candle. He said he'll forget, which he probably will, and that doesn't bother me. I know he's going to have fun, and that's the most important thing. One thing is true: you can't hang out with him and his sisters and not have fun. They're all pretty hilarious.
Where would you go on a cruise to? I think I was ten when the church my dad pastored at the time sent he and my mom on a cruise to the Bahamas. That sounds good to me.

Cruising is sooooo much fun! I've been on so many with my husband and with our friends. My first cruise was from Florida to the Bahamas. We've been there several times. You will love it. We cruised to Cozumel, too. You are lucky indeed, if you've seen the world instead of wishing you had. Yay to your dad!

The thought of taking a cruise doesn't appeal to me.
But if I were to take one, I'd take a cruise of the Great Lakes, I would love to see each of the 5 lakes and experience that.
I'm sure that your Dad and his crowd will have a great time together on their cruise.

I live in Michigan, Julia. If they do cruises on the Great Lakes, I've never heard of it before. That would be interesting even for me.

I am not certain that I would go on a cruise. Being on a ship with so many people does not appeal to me. I would like to go to the Bahamas though. It is beautiful there.

@AmbiePam I don't do well in places with a lot of people. I'll stick to staying close to home.

I would choose to go anywhere. I think tops would be a cruise to Alaska, or to Scandinavia, just because I know hubby would enjoy either of those a ton as well.

I haven't been on a cruise; however, if I were invited by family would go to Hawaii. Never been there and the pictures always look inviting. I'm sure they will have a great time.

I think to the Seychelles and the Dominican Islands too. Its so lovely to have a Family like that. I was way too young to know the Sisters of Mother“s Mom but they were a great bunch when they were together too.

The Bahamas is nice, but when you go on a cruise, isn't it usually the trip that is the most fun?

I've been to Hawaii before but we all flew there and my mom paid for everyone to go. I went with my husband and siblings and their spouses, my mom took her then boyfriend and it was before she had dementia.
I'd go on a cruise anywhere anyone wanted to pay for my trip. Never been on a cruise before, but my brother has taken his extended family on a few of them. I don't know that I'll ever be able to afford to go on my own steam. Other than maybe via work. Each February one gal plans a trip somewhere on a short cruise. And I mean short. It's usually about five days, I think and costs about six hundred dollars. I'm hoping to be able to go on that one before I fully retire.

Honestly, anywhere, as long as it's warm (like, not Alaska and not sailing out of New York). I've been on one cruise and I would go again in a heartbeat. I loved it. The cruise I went on in 2012 was Hawaii. It was a smaller ship than most of the cruise ships around today. I don't know if I would like a huge ship with a ton more people than what I first experienced, but I guess I'd give it a shot.

I have been to the Caribbean twice and we did stop in Jamaica, and Mexico. I have been to Bermuda 3 times and the New England cruise once. I do love cruising.
