Another Project Completed!

Trying to clean up my sewing room, and eliminating (using) my scraps seems to be an endless job. The pile just doesn't seem to go down.
A few weeks ago I made the Valentines Day placemats that I've been wanting to create for a couple of years. Once they were completed I knew that I wanted a table topper to match.
Searching for patterns that I liked, and would fit, I finally decided to use the same pattern that I had used to make my accidental table topper at Christmas time.
Pinks were chosen...some blue to change it up and then hearts were appliquéd to finish the top. This is when I decided that if I doubled the cotton batting I would also not need to use a potholder to protect my wooden table top from hot dishes.
This is my finished table.......

Gorgeous, I love it. My sister has that same problem with yarn she has way more than she knows what to do with.

I try really hard not to buy something unless I have a purpose for it.

@Morleyhunt My sister is a knitting fanatic and can't help herself, she will buy yarn no matter a project or not in mind lol.

Thank you. I've been planning to make Valentines placemats for a number of years. Something always seemed to interfere with my creativity. (Time being at the top of the list.)

Your talent is amazing and I love how pretty your table looks all ready for Valentine's Day. Good idea to use the extra batting to protect the table. Can't wait to see what your next project is.

I'm trying to finish quilting one of the quilt fronts that I've shown here before. Hopefully before the weekend. Right now I'm also busy with a wallhanging for St Patrick's day.

Thank you. If I only had the time and the money to make everything I'd like to make.....time being the number one short coming.

Some projects do use up a lot of scraps. Some create more, but that's only if I need to cut into a new piece to finish something.

Most of us have more talent than we are willing to admit. There is a lot of practice. My home ec (sewing) teacher would never have predicted me spending time sewing.

I smile every time I walk past the table....which is often...it's on my path from the sewing room to the living room.

Thanks....now to keep them clean. They are much lighter coloured than my usual choice of placemat.

Thank you. There is a lot of time practicing to hone the skill. Not every project if a display piece.

Smashing, that really looks smashing. I am not good at making things like that but I have made patterns and things with an online program that makes designs too. But its not the same as yours wonderful.
I love to be creative too.

I have an eye for designs but not the actual sewing itself. Still I have a bit of fun here and there doing my own designs on a piece of softwware and that compensates a bitl

I often see a pattern and then change it to make it my own.

Thank you. Making things like this feeds a need in me. For the last year I was able to do some needlework, but now, the sky is my limit.
