...because he is supporting Trump now.
I saw a meme purporting Pence had made a 'tweet' a few years back, but I really wasn't sure if it was real...after all, so many things get faked these days...so I looked for the real thing...and I found it.
I guess his old beliefs aren't quite the same as the path he follows now...

But you see, The Exalted Orange One didn't ban Muslims, he banned citizens from countries known to breed terrorists where Trump Enterprises has no business interests. The fact that those terrorists are predominantly Muslims, from majority Muslim countries, is just a coincidence. I'm sure that's how The Pensive One rationalizes supporting TEOO now, while he waits for the cabinet to finish being seated so they can depose TEOO and install TPO on the throne, er, in the White House.

@JolietJake He did not exempt Christians, He said that they should get priority because they have not got it in the past....They will also go through the vetting process...

He changed his mind because he wanted to get a higher political office.
It even has this quote on his wikipedia page under syrian refugee crisis.
